Hidden Gems: Meet Toni O’dell of Bloom Market

Today we’d like to introduce you to Toni O’dell

Hi Toni, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my journey into the maker world over 10 years ago when I posted my first listing on Etsy. As my business grew I jumped into the hustle and bustle of markets. There, I met talented makers, worked with amazing market coordinators, and learned all the ins and outs of the market world. As my connections grew so did my desire to achieve more and find a way to serve local makers and boutiques. In 2019 Bloom Market was born. Bloom is celebrating its 5th anniversary this Fall with its biggest market to date.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Bloom Market achieved quick success after its debut market in 2019. When Covid-19 struck in 2020 the market had to push the pause button. When Bloom picked back up in 2022 it brought in a new location and a slight name change to be more inclusive to local small businesses. As Bloom continues to grow, the event space has to grow, and a new location was discovered in the Fall of 2023. No road is ever smooth but the path has always been clear. Bloom is a home for talented local artisan makers and boutiques with a foundation built on community and support.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Bloom Market will be hosting its 5th anniversary market on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Woehler Family Center, located behind St. Thomas Episcopal Church. The Fall market will have 48 local artisans and boutiques with products ranging from bath and body, women’s clothing and accessories, art, sweets and treats, ceramics, jewelry, and so much more. The small businesses that will be attending the market have been curated to bring together the best talent in San Antonio to the community. Because this market will be a celebration of sorts, there are special things planned for our guests when they come out to support our community of makers and boutiques.
