Today we’d like to introduce you to Sebastian Granados
Hi Sebastian, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Well, I am a 27-year-old rap artist who owns his own music recording/production studio called CCXHQ. Which stands for 210 which is CCX in roman numerals and the HQ is for headquarters. I grew up in the east side of San Antonio, Tx where I was born and raised. Music has always been a big part of my life because of my family members who are really into the rap culture. I started out just writing poetry and expressing myself on paper. It wasn’t until about a year after starting to write that I actually began to rap and freestyle with my friends in high school. As an artist who was very lyrical and passionate I immediately jumped into the battle rap culture. Before I ever recorded a song in the studio, I had already done several rap battles and also did plenty of live performances on stage. I didn’t record my first song until 2021, so I’ve been releasing music on streaming platforms for a little under 3 years now. So as of right now on streaming platforms I have 8 singles out and one 5 record ep tape out. On YouTube I have all that music as well as 4 professional music videos and 11 one take remix videos. I also have many features out there and another mic drop on the Wrap Up live performances channel.
I have had much success as an artist but also have ventured into being a studio owner which as allowed me to bring artists together as well as put them in positions to succeed. Me and my close friend Jayy Angel whose an engineer here in San Antonio have put together the biggest collaboration mixtape ever released out of San Antonio, Tx. It was all made and recorded in my studio CCXHQ. We had the help of several producers like Clef God, Kid Hendrixx, Reef, Augszillary, Almari and Kion. We were able to get 25 different artists from the city and surrounding areas and put them all on one mixtape. Which is pretty amazing if you ask me this process took us months to complete but finally, we were able to release ‘Project CCX’ on February 9th 2024 on all streaming platforms. I mark this project as one of my biggest accomplishments because no one has ever done what we did we were able to bring the city of San Antonio together with music like never before.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have had many struggles with balancing my real-life workload, having to pay bills while building my own studio and pursuing a rap career at the same time as an artist. Having all this on my plate has also made it hard for me to have successful relationships with women because most demand too much of my time and focus which takes away from my journey and goals as an artist.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have worked construction most of my professional career. I worked for the Spurs at Toyota Field for 3.5 years I was painting and mowing soccer fields professionally while I was there. Other than that, I have worked for a general contractor for a long time s0 I have acquired many construction related skills. I would definitely say I am most proud of being the main guy behind the biggest collaboration mixtape to ever be put out of San Antonio, Tx called ‘Project CCX’. I would say what separates me from others is the fact that I love connecting people together for a greater purpose whether it directly benefits me or not.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I feel being able to step out of the spotlight and allowing other people to use my platform to shine, has really helped me build great relationships with lots of different people, which has allowed me to be successful in the music industry here in San Antonio, Tx.
