Today we’d like to introduce you to Edward Silva
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started as a kid growing up in San Diego, CA.
My brother would be around music and artists and dj’s and I looked up to him so naturally I wanted to do what he was doing. I’d ask questions and ask to try what he’s doing if I was lucky enough he’d let me. As I got older I just kept at it.. Aside from loving house and dance music I’m a hip hop head at heart so bboyin, djin and making beats has always been a part of me ever since I could remember. As I got older we moved here to San Antonio and I just kept up with it. Then finally made some friends here and we started a collective called “Midnight Swim” and would through house parties and all that. Of course I would also still do my own thing and play whatever I wanted. I’d throw off parties (basically just pre House Arrest stuff like “OPTIONS at rumble” and “PLAYCAVE” underneath PLAYLAND) that were like baby versions of what I do now. And then one day House Arrest just stuck and here we are now.. I met more friends that are like minded and now a new collective was born.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s def been a crazy road.. cus you’re just taking risks.. you never really know.
A lot of stress, happiness, anxiety, exhaustion all at once.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I DJ, produce and do photography on the side. I say I specialize in music for sure cus I’m known for djing. I’m proud of just being able to wake up and do it all over again each day.
What sets me apart for others? Man i don’t know..
I guess I just work hard and live what what I do. You have to be what you’re about or you’re just doing it for nothing.
You kinda have to.
If you stop that’s it.
As a creative you have to constantly be pushing art and content.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’m an open book tbh lol
