Rising Stars: Meet Abe & Dina Torres

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Abe & Dina Torres.

Abe & Dina Torres

Hi Abe & Dina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in my parent’s bakery, Los Cocos, which closed a little over two years ago. My love for baking traditional pan dulce and wanting to continue my father’s legacy led to starting Mundo Linda Panadería.

My wife (Dina), son (Abraham Jr), and I (Abe) currently do markets on weekends and custom orders. We enjoy sharing our family traditions and seeing the joy it brings people when they try something for the first time or taste something that reminds them of a childhood memory.

We invite you to follow us on our social media pages so that you can be part of our journey and hopefully you’re able to visit us at a market 🙂

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

Running a small business comes with its fair share of obstacles and especially when it’s a side gig. We’ve had to learn to balance our side gig with our full time jobs all while maintaining a work/life balance.  We’ve had to be strategic in our decisions for markets and custom orders as well to help with that work/life balance and to just be parents some weekends for our son. We’ve definitely had some learning along the way with our side gig but the feedback we’ve been receiving from customers on our pan dulce makes the rest worth it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Mundo Linda Panaderia is named in honor of my parents, Herlinda and Raymond Torres. We offer a variety of traditional Mexican pan dulce. We’re most know for our mini conchas, pineapple and cherry turnovers, pink cake, regalo and chocolate toppers.

I’m proud that I’m keeping my father’s legacy going. My wife and I are proud that our son is seeing firsthand the ins/outs of running a family small business.

One thing that sets us apart from other Panaderias is that the fillings for our turnovers are homemade. All recipes were taught by a master baker, my father. We have over 100 recipes in our toolbox and we’re only getting started so we have many more to show you, so come along with us on this journey.

What are your plans for the future?
Continue to perfect each recipe and provide great pan dulce while growing our customer base and continuing to share our love for pan dulce with San Antonio.
