Hi Jasmine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started A Queen’s Touch Beauty Bar (Styles By Jazzyy) back in April of 2019 in West Palm Beach, FL, when my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. I would braid my mom’s hair in the privacy of her home. She started losing her hair very fast. So, I decided to start a business to help women and young girls embrace their natural hair. In 2021, I aimed to move myself and my family to San Antonio, Texas. I visited, networked with a few people, started marketing, and put my name out there. The next time I visited, I marketed in a few Facebook groups, asking if I could rent a space for the short time I would be visiting. A young lady named Vanessa Jones was very kind and allowed me to rent a space at her salon. I did a few clients, and it all started there. I finally moved out, started a new life and business, and made amazing friends and coaches on my way up.
On April 1, 2023, I opened the doors to A Queen’s Touch Beauty Bar. I have 2 stylists in the salon with me, and I am looking to add more to the team soon. I teach braiding classes for ages 8 and up, tape in classes, and offer mentorships. I aim to reach and teach as many stylists as possible and create a solid foundation of vital, educated, motivated stylists. On February 1, 2024, I had this fantastic opportunity to teach my most significant braiding class at the Milan Institute Of Cosmetology. This was a great experience, and as of the looks of things, this is where I’m supposed to be. San Antonio has been great to me, and it is only right that I give back.
Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Transiting from Florida to Texas was a smooth road. I came across a few struggles when opening my first salon, but it wasn’t anything that I couldn’t overcome. The devil tried to stop me from the greatest, but god said otherwise.
