Heather Cortez, also known as Queen of the Mouth, is a former dental hygienist with over 13 years of experience. She has annually been awarded Director Level of Practice while chairside. During Covid, she was furloughed. She knew it was time to follow her dream and start a business. Creating QM luxury whitening gel, she stepped away from her clinical setting. She offers service-based, one-hour professional teeth whitening and LED Home Whitening Kits. She has expanded and hired Raquel and Destinee. Heather now has wholesale online and sells to some dental offices.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In 2022 I needed to either retire my license or continue in dental hygiene. In Texas, dental hygienist must be under a dentist. What is on there makes it seem you need to be a dentist to do teeth whitening, that is not the case. So I gave up my license to continue my business and not fall under the Texas dental association.
