Today we’d like to introduce you to Archbishop Grady L. Morris Sr.. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Archbishop Grady L. Morris, Sr. and his wife of 45 years, Bishop-elect Juanita W. Morris, are the pastors of New Covenant Family Church, a Bible-based, Jesus Christ-centered, Holy Ghost-inspired, family-friendly, multi-cultural, and grace-based assembly of believers, that warmly embraces everyone, especially the most hurting and broken amongst us. On April 6, 2013, New Covenant Family Church began as an online prayer group. The vision of Pastor Grady L. and Juanita W. Morris, along with their prayer partners from Pensacola, Florida, Brother and Sister John and Alma Lett, resulted in the formation of the “Morning Glory” Prayerline.
This holy endeavor came about because the founders truly believed that prayer is essential in the life of all believers and the church is universal. It was and still is that belief and faith in God that has resulted in people from across this nation and the world at 6:00 am, to get up every morning at 6:00 am CST, seven days a week, and calling into the “Morning Glory Prayerline. These Prayer Warriors have prayed for our nation, the nation of Israel, missionaries on all seven continents, and the leaders of our various churches and ministries.
Word quickly spread throughout the Gulf Coast region and Texas, where people excitedly talked about an exciting new prayer endeavor, one where the people of God were encouraged to start their day with effectual, fervent prayer, praise, and worship of God. What initially began as a small prayer group in 2013 eventually grew into a mid-week Bible Study. In September 2013, the Morris’s began a Mid-week Bible Study that met every Thursday at The Fairfield Inns and Suites by Marriott in Schertz, Texas. For approximately seven (7) months, they began an intense study of God’s Word, resulting in people coming from across the area to participate in an “Irresistible Prayer-Praise and Teaching” experience. Because of the tremendous success and growth of this Bible Study, the Morris was forced to relocate to 814 Main Street, Suite C., in the beautiful city of Schertz, Texas, where, once again, their membership growth resulted in them having to move to their current location at 4555 Walzem Road, in San Antonio, Texas, where they continue to teach and preach the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, via their Outreach Ministry, Each One Reach One. Their Helping Hands Food Pantry, New Covenant Family Church truly believes that “Families that Pray and Worship Together-Will Stay Together, which is why they endeavor to create an atmosphere of “Irresistible Prayer, Praise and Worship,” where families of all ethnicities feel welcomed and appreciated as they enter into this holy assembly.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As with any ministerial endeavor and mission, this journey has had challenges. Yet out of each challenge faced, we have remained focused on our vision and mission, which motivates us to grow stronger and closer to God, and from the lessons we have encountered, we’ve learned to put our complete trust in God’s plan for this ministry, in our lives, as well as the lives of His people, who have come to this ministry from all walks of life especially those who, through no fault of their own, are victims of homelessness, poverty, neglect, and mental and physical abuse. This passion helped create the New Covenant Family Church vision, which is based upon four (4) core Tenets: SEEK-SAVE-SERVE & SEND. We have been commissioned to go into the highways and by-ways and SEEK all families, the unchurched and the less fortunate amongst us, and share with them the Gospel of Christ, which in turn will SAVE them from their sin and through effective and uncompromised teaching of the Word of God, we prepare them to SERVE their communities, by SENDING them back into the communities where they live, work and play, and charge them with becoming change agents for God. New Covenant Family Church’s mission is therefore predicated and centered on and through our full faith and trust in God through Christ our Savior. To that end, our mission is to lift the name of the Lord and take His Gospel to all nations, families, and the unchurched, thereby causing a God Consciousness, an awareness of God, that cannot be denied to their families, friends and loved ones, resulting in them being saved, made free and true disciples of Christ our Savior.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Archbishop Grady L. Morris, Sr., and Bishop-Elect Juanita W. Morris believe that family is one of life’s most beautiful words. At New Covenant Family Church, we take seriously the Bible’s teaching that believers in Christ are the family of God and, therefore, brothers and sisters in Christ. As a “Family of Faith,” we seek to worship and serve God in spirit and truth through obedience to God’s commandments, effectual, fervent prayer, and irresistible Praise and Worship. We believe prayer is the engine that drives our faith, and therefore, we encourage all New Covenant Family Church members to begin their day with prayer. All are invited to join us on our “Morning Glory Prayer Line” or through prayer in their own homes. We truly believe that “Families that Pray and Worship Together Will Stay Together.” We invite all who hear or see this message to join us as we share the good news of the Gospel message of our Lord and Savior and provide the spiritual environment necessary for all believers’ spiritual growth. We invite you and your family to experience the joy and excitement of the New Covenant Family Church family.
Our church has gained a reputation as a friendly and caring house of worship, and we would welcome the opportunity to show you why. We would be honored to have you in our praise and worship services or other activities or participate in any ministry Outreach efforts. We invite you to join us, expecting to connect, engage, and experience our Father in Heaven as we continue with our mission to carry out our Savior’s last commandment found in Matthew 28:18-20 KJV, and go and seek the unchurched amongst us, introducing them to salvation through Christ our Savior and baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. To expose all who enter our doors to the truth through effective teaching of God’s Word. Our dynamic Food Pantry and Outreach ministries are each charged with serving the homeless, the hungry, the poor, orphans, widows, and strangers amongst us and subsequently making them disciples of Christ. We are actively looking for ambassadors and partners willing to join us as we send men and women into all nations, with their primary purpose being to take the Gospel to all nations, make disciples of all men, and add souls to the kingdom of God! If you desire to join this dynamic ministry, New Covenant Family Church would be delighted to have you as a member of our church family. If you want to join this exciting ministry, please speak to one of our pastors about your decision. Suppose you are new to this area and would like to become a part of this holy assembly. In that case, the best first step for you is to attend our Sunday Morning Worship Service at 11:15 am in our church sanctuary or our mid-week Thursday evening Bible Study, held in our sanctuary at 6:30 pm. Our Thursday evening Bible Study service consists of the unadulterated teaching of God’s Word, done without compromise. At each of these services, you’ll be warmly greeted and given a bulletin, a brief description of the day’s worship or Bible Study service, and a list of upcoming activities at New Covenant.
Our Sunday worship service always begins with uplifting, irresistible praise and worship music from various Christian sources, followed by an inspirational, faith-building, Bible-based message. Although worship will be over around 12:30 noon, we encourage you to hang around with your new friends afterward. We have open holy communion (The Lord’s Supper) on the first Sunday of each month. All visitors are encouraged to come forward at the end of each service during the “Ministry Time,” where you will be greeted by Archbishop Morris or one of our Ministry Team members, who will happily guide you in your decision. You may join our church in one of the following ways:
- By Confession – Any Individual who has by your confession that Jesus is Lord and has made Him their Lord and Savior
- By Baptism – Any individual who has publicly professed faith in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of sin and is scripturally baptized by immersion.
- By Letter – If you have a membership from another Christian fellowship, you may join our church by transferring your membership to us. We will take care of all the details.
- By Statement – Any individual who has been baptized by immersion after being saved but is not a member of another church or was once a member of another church whose records are unavailable.
It is strongly recommended that each new member complete a membership course that provides instruction on the covenant purpose, philosophy, and ministry of New Covenant Family Church.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting?
The best advice for new ministries seeking to begin their work for God is to take your time and not be in a hurry to Go! Make sure your ministry meets a particular need in the community you’ve been called to serve and align your ministry with a specific strategy that seeks to strengthen the church universally. We also encourage new ministries to be careful about who they let into your sphere of influence because everyone who comes to you may appear to be for you when, in reality, they may have ulterior motives. The last piece of advice we offer young ministries and ministers is to make sure that you create a ministry action plan that includes a viable budget and communication plan and not be afraid to revisit this plan and make the necessary adjustments or corrections.
