Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Carter Beesley.
Hi Andrea, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started my business in 2018 out of the desire to capture the epic love found in families. As a mother, I began to realize the power photos hold, how important it is to capture the milestones in the life of a family, and how incredibly emotional it is to see beautiful photos of ourselves. My business has evolved to include intimate weddings and proposals. Surprisingly, proposals have grown to almost half of my business!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Owning a small business is not for the faint of heart! I often doubted what I was doing or had “imposter syndrome.” But those moments are the ones that made me more sure of my goals ahead and helped me to look back to see how far I’ve come. While it can be a bumpy ride, owning a small business is the best decision I’ve ever made for my career path. My only regret is not doing this sooner!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer who primarily specializes in family and proposal photography. The best part of being a photographer is being present for these incredibly unique moments in people’s lives. I get hired by many moms who want to be in photos with their sweet babies because they are usually behind the camera! I think it’s something everyone needs to do at least once with their kids while they’re still little. Most people are shocked that proposals keep me as busy as they are! With Fredericksburg being a getaway destination area, I am there quite frequently for proposals. I have grown to love helping my clients to plan their dream proposals. People come from around the country to be in the vineyards as they propose, and I can see why! What sets me apart from other photographers is my client experience and quick turnaround times for photos. I work hard to ensure my clients are well cared for and communicated with. And because I know how much they’re looking forward to getting their photos back, most clients get them in two weeks or less!
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
My definition of success has changed over the years. Right now, success for me looks like ample time with my family, including my busy three-year-old daughter. It’s being able to spend my time the way I choose. There is no commodity more valuable than time! You can always get more money, but you can’t ever get time back.
