Hidden Gems: Meet Jasmine McClary, Realtor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine McClary.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
Initially, as I reached adulthood, I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do. I just knew I wanted to help people and be successful. My journey into real estate started with me working in property management. I worked in property management for 9 years, and I loved it. I loved working with individuals and families to do what I could to ensure they were comfortable and happy with their home situation. Though I thoroughly enjoyed this, I always felt like something was missing. I was sacrificing time with my children, and at a certain point in life, I just knew I wanted more. I became comfortable in my role and craved more freedom and challenge. Real estate was the most logical and exciting next step in my career. This is a career that checked all the boxes for me. It would enable me to work for myself and utilize the skills I obtained from property management while also being able to continue directly helping people.

Last year, I gained the courage to take that step into the next chapter of my life, and I realized quickly that I would have to work hard if I wanted to reach the level of success I know I am capable of. The real estate certification exam was an exciting challenge I was incredibly proud to overcome. Once I completed my real estate courses and had to step out on my own into this new career, I knew then that it would be up to me how successful I became in real estate; it was terrifying but fascinating. Knowing this, I knew whether I failed or succeeded wouldn’t be due to a lack of determination. However, real estate has become more than chasing success for me. I love building connections with people. I love working hard and making the home buying/selling process less stressful for my clients. I’m up before the sun, and I’m finished after the sun sets. This might sound like a complaint in any other role, but in this career, I look forward to solving problems and standing side-by-side with my clients as we navigate the process together. Though I know my hard work will allow me to live the life I’ve dreamed of, I’m even more grateful to help families buy and sell their homes as I understand the doors that will be opened for them.

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
I have never been one to lean on my past circumstances as a crutch. We are all dealt a certain hand and must do our best, no matter the situation. I gravitated to this career because stability has always been attractive to me. As someone who grew up in foster care, stability was sometimes the thing I craved the most. Many are unfamiliar with the trials and tribulations of growing up in the foster system because many are fortunate enough not to think about this. While I sometimes envy those unfamiliar with these systems, I do not shy away from the fact that the system is a part of my story. Growing up in this system, you are constantly presented with statistics that can ultimately feel incredibly defeating. You learn about the high rates of teen pregnancy, homelessness, and unemployment and how difficult it will be to reach a high level of education. I had two choices; I could be part of these statistics or do my absolute best to stay positive and ensure my circumstances do not define me. Though I chose the latter, there are still parts of growing up in the system that I am still learning to overcome. While in care, I was separated from my siblings and moved around Texas often. Due to this instability, it was hard to set roots and build relationships with friends around my age group. When you are always the new person in school or the community, you tend to put up walls to protect yourself. This is why this career is incredibly meaningful to me. Not only does it allow me the freedom to give my children and me the stable life I have been pursuing, but it also allows me to help others reach that stability. I do not tell my story often; I want people to respect and trust me because I am good at what I do. But the fact is that these challenges are and will always be a part of my story. Rather than pushing them down and not thinking about them, I will continue referencing these challenges throughout my life to remind me that I can and will overcome all obstacles as I continue to grow.

We’ve been impressed with Jasmine McClary, Realtor., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Aside from being knowledgeable about our market, I am mostly known for being extraordinarily dedicated to my clients and taking the time to build bonds and truly get to know them and understand their real estate needs. Buying or selling a home often comes with a roller coaster of emotions, and I delicately guide and support my clients through all of the ups and downs along the way. Beyond being their real estate agent, I’m also a cheerleader and a great listener. I stand by them every step until their real estate goals are accomplished. Helping families build wealth through real estate – whether a first-time home buyer crosses over from renting to building equity in their first home or an experienced investor purchasing their 10th rental property – I am here to help! I am most known for helping first-time home sellers or buyers and guiding them through selling or buying property, but I will be expanding my business very soon, and I couldn’t be more excited. I am most proud of my consistency and drive, and that is part of what sets me apart from other agents. I have tenacity, faith, loyalty, and genuine compassion for others. I don’t have a set schedule of work hours in a day. I will work however long I need to to get stuff done/close a deal. If that means that I don’t shut my laptop down until midnight, so be it. It’s all worth it in the end.

What does success mean to you?
Many of us can relate to the never-ending quest of becoming “successful,” and I am no exception. Defining success has been a challenge for me because I do think it is very fluid. The definition of success, like all of us, grows and changes the more we learn about life. When I was younger, success could have been defined by a steady job with a paycheck that allowed me to survive and be independent. The older I get and the more I learn, I realize that success will continue to develop and change as I am still learning what I want and deserve. As this definition of success continues to evolve, there are a few parts that do remain constant. No matter where life takes me, I will know I am successful if my children are proud of their mom. If you are a parent, you may be able to relate. We all want our children to live better lives than we did. That does not mean they need to make more money or become high-profile figures; rather, I hope my children will see me doing something I truly love and enjoy and inspire them to pursue what feeds their souls. I wake up excited about this career, knowing I am not just selling homes. I am selling stability and freedom to families who will create foundational, core memories in these homes. Being able to do what I love while making my kids proud and taking care of my family and I is the success I will continuously be chasing as I progress in life and my career.
