Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Barrera.
Hi Audrey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My journey began in 5th grade when I discovered youtube and started documenting my life, making vlogs and skits. I’ve always had a passion for storytelling for as long as I can remember. Fast forward to 2018, and I could finally document for someone else. I was hired as a video storyteller at a photography school in McAllen, Tx. Once I was introduced to the creative world, I slowly began documenting for others outside the school. I started creating content for many businesses, brands, and models and even covered my first wedding! Eventually, I grew from only video making to photographing models and friends. I spent much time collaborating with many photographers and models and eventually created a community in McAllen, TX, named, Let’s Stay Creative in 2019. Let’s Stay Creative is a community for all levels of photographers, models, and videographers. We meet monthly with a small/local business to network, collaborate and create content. This community has grown to South Padre Island, San Antonio, and will be in Austin, TX, this year! This has to be one of my favorite accomplishments! I’ve built a safe space for creatives to express themselves. In 2019 I also began falling in love with capturing moments for couples and at weddings. I made my Wedding Photography business official and have been booking weddings in Mcallen and San Antonio ever since! I am very grateful for the many friendships I’ve made and the opportunities I’ve had throughout this journey! I am currently an entire Wedding, Elopement, and Lifestyle photographer and videographer while still documenting my life on youtube. I am excited to continue expanding toward other cities for my creative community and clients.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a business owner is always challenging. I’ve struggled many times, from burnouts to others talking negatively about my work and even people criticizing my events. But I’ve learned my limits and brushed off negative opinions. I was doing what I loved while creating opportunities for others, which mattered to me. I’ve learned that genuine friendships and like-minded people are important to keep close. I also made it a priority to take care of my mental and physical health. In the end, everything is a learning experience.

I am a family & wedding & elopement photographer. I offer highlight reels to clients of their sessions and weddings. I also create social media content for businesses, brands, and artists.
