Hi Koby, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started this business in December 2019. I was blazing a trail with the progress I was making. At the beginning of 2020, as we all know, COVID-19 hit. My wife owns Southern Tease Hair, Makeup, and Boutique. I saw how hard the pandemic impacted her business, so I decided to take a break from the dream of starting my own business and staying with my day-to-day job. I was considered an essential worker during the pandemic, so my income was the only thing we had for months. After moving into our new home and having another baby in July of 2022, I took the reigns back and decided to pursue my dream again. Our trials and tribulations at the beginning would have made some give up under stress. With my incredible desire for success, I did not let any speed bump slow me down. I could not be happier with the support and interest I received from Southern Standard Elevated Bar Services. This business is one of my babies, and I will do anything I can to grow it. Everyone has a “why.” My “why” is a drive for self-fulfillment and the ability to spend as much time with my family as possible. My kids will only be little once, so I will go to no end to be there for them as much as possible.
Tomorrow is not a guarantee! A brilliant man once told me, “Think of this life that we are blessed with here on earth as a vacation that God sends us on. God wants to hear all about it when you get called back home. If you fill this life with things you can be proud of, then you will be proud to tell God about the time he gave you on earth. If you fill your life with bad things, you will be humiliated when it comes time to tell God about the time he gave you. Make the most of your life and manifest what you can be proud of.” With the help of God, my family, and my fantastic wife, anything is possible! I am very excited to see what the future of Southern Standard Elevated Bar Services has in store. We are here for a good time, a short time!
You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
We had very humble beginnings. Of course, as I previously mentioned, Covid-19 made getting this business off the ground extremely hard. After we got things up, running, and legal, we purchased all our marketing materials to get strong-armed into rebranding the business. The rebrand was not within our budget whatsoever, but God prevailed and gave us the means to do so. With the extra hustle brought upon by the rebranding of the business, I am even more grateful and determined to grow this business beyond my dreams. Things have fallen into place, and we hit the ground running!
We’ve been impressed with Southern Standard Elevated Bar Services, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are an on-location bar services company that bridges the gap between the event space of your dreams and the party of a lifetime. We serve weddings, corporate events, private parties, etc. Different packages are available to fit anyone’s budget and needs. All of our packages come with 600-800 pounds of ice, ice chests, bar tools, and uniformed, TABC-certified bartenders. Our “Soda and Garnish” is our most popular package. It allows you to kick up your feet on the day of your event as we guarantee that you will not run out of cups, napkins, straws, stir sticks, sodas, waters, mixers, juices, syrups, garnishes, and rimmers for the decided upon event cocktail menu. We consider all the other things people have going on in life and ensure our clients a smooth and seamless process. From the first inquiry to packing up at the end of your event, we are here for our clients at every step. Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be the time spent at the ranch with my family and friends. The ranch was always surrounded by great times and the best people. That place was where I learned so many things that I still use today. Having the privilege to be able to grow up with that piece of property in my life has helped form me into the person I am today. Taking care of the family ranch came with great responsibility and jobs for everyone to complete. The reward of all of our work coming together warmed my heart beyond words. I pray that my kids will be able to find as much joy and a sense of responsibility as I did at the ranch.
