Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I’ve always enjoyed cooking for my loved ones. When the pandemic hit, I found myself cooking a lot more and trying recipes I never found the time to make. One of the recipes I tried was the Conchas. A small batch was too many for my family, so I shared with family and neighbors. I got a lot of good feedback. My husband had lost his job (due to the pandemic), and I had been a stay-at-home mom for the past 7 years at the time, so I thought to myself it would be nice to make a ‘concha sell’ I did it one weekend, then the word got out and did another sell, the rest is history.
You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a smooth road?
I have been my biggest struggle. I have doubted myself way too many times. I stopped making the conchas for a while because I thought I didn’t have what it takes to run a business. People never stopped calling me, asking when I would bake again. It took me too long to believe in myself.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
La Concheria: We specialize in Pan Dulce Conchas. Our conchas are soft and have a crusty crust, the perfect sweetness. Once you try our conchas, you will never like store-bought conchas again. Mini Conchas are our best seller product. As I always say, you can have more than one without guilt. We offer a variety of crust flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, Churro, Oreo, Mazapan, and Abuelita, and we custom conchas! We can do any theme you can think of. Our stuffed conchas are amazing, too. Think of it as a sandwich: Nutella. Fresh strawberries and homemade whipped cream to die for. We also offer various spreading flavors such as Nutella, Dulce de Leche, Gloria, Cajeta, and PB&J.
Last November 19th, we won first place (Judges’ Favorite) at the Concha Throw Down 2022!
