Today we’d like to introduce you to Keidra Scott.
Hi Keidra, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised right here in good ole San Antonio! From the young age of 4, I had a deep love for self-expression through creativity. However, at the age of 5 is when I started having encounters with depression, and the only thing, I had to hang onto in those moments were my dreams. I grew up with my mother pouring all she had into providing sustainable living for me & my brother.
Even though the weight of life laid heavily on her shoulders, she carried it with such Grace & poise. She also taught me about the importance of having a relationship with God. That impacted me deeply. Her impact took a minute to hit me because honestly, I was a troublemaker in school, but I truly believe that’s because I had a lot of energy, and being diagnosed with ADHD, I didn’t know how to cope with the energy.
Fast forward through all the adolescent struggles. Current date I’m 28 years old. Feel liberated in the fact that depression and anxiety aren’t permanent. Experiencing God’s goodness and becoming the woman I always saw in myself when I was younger, I realized that my dreams are not only a tangible possibility but are connected to a purpose bigger than mine.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road. I can laugh about it now, very hard! Only because there were so MANY obstacles.
Between trauma and mental health. There were struggles with belief in myself and belief in this world. However, I can say I can appreciate these diamonds a lot more because I did the work to mine them. I’m grateful for every occurrence. I’m grateful for every struggle. I believe my struggle is a wealth of wisdom for the next person.
We’ve been impressed with Boujiee Baux Treats, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Boujiee Baux (Box) Treats is a brand that encourages luxury in everyday life. That luxury isn’t just about your financial state but it’s also a state of mind. What are things that you can incorporate into your daily routine that will lighten your life? Because if we are mentally broke, does your financial state fully change that? It’s a brand that services all people, but this brand was particularly fashioned for my ladies.
How I create that luxury feel is me focusing on treats at this point in time. Later, I will be adding new services and menu items. But for right now, I have sweets that are here to create joy. I also do personalized treat menus for events. I love the idea of sweet treats meeting self-care. Treat yourself (pun intended) I’m known specifically for my cookies. I create unique flavors and with that the possibilities are endless. The thing that I feel sets me apart is that the interpersonal, intimate connection with each client is vastly important to me.
The state of your being matters to me. Brand wise that is the thing that matters to me the most. The state of every client’s being. What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Food is universal. Although technology is rapidly advancing, it could never really replace interpersonal connections.
Because of that, I feel the only thing that will really change our food businesses finding new innovative ways to connect that will work hand and hand with technology.
