Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Morales.
Hi Erica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My story starts off a little different… I am a former Elementary Teacher, I taught for 15 years.
Unfortunately in 2020, I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer and I now have permanent damage to my vocal cords. I was no longer able to read aloud to my students nor perform some of my duties as a teacher.
I decided to look into a different career, even though I would miss my students dearly, it seemed like the best choice for me. I have always been interested in the beauty industry.
My love for skin care and nails brought me to the realization that I needed to get my Specialty license as both Esthetician and Manicurist. I became a licensed Esthetician and Manicurist in late June 2021. I started my new career working as an Esthetician for six months in a small salon.
In November 2021, I decided I wanted to utilize both my licenses and start my own business. I opened up Double Polished Beauty Bar in December 2021. We offer a variety of services for skin and nails.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road.
I have had struggles along the way, from fear of failure to building a clientele. I have definitely learned a lot and it has not been easy and that’s ok, the struggles are definitely worth the outcome if you continue to stay consistent.

We specialize in skincare and nails.
We are well known for being personable and the professionalism we show to each of our clients, since it is a small salon, it gives us the flexibility to be a more private salon, which I feel sets us apart from other salons.
We are by appointment only, so we can ensure the best quality work each time! I am very proud of being a salon that not only sets quality as a high standard but we also meet our client’s expectations!
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is staying consistent and never giving up on your dream! No matter what obstacles or struggles come your way, You can overcome them!
