Daily Inspiration: Meet Diego Castillo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diego Castillo.

Hi Diego, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I recorded my first official song in August 2020 titled in search of. It came about after living 2 years of homelessness in Wisconsin. Still, to this day, I’m not sure how I survived 2 Wisconsin winters.

I lost everything from having my expenses cost more than my living costs. Those 2 years, I held a job at Johnsonville sausage I.

Sheboygan falls, WI yet it covered only just gas and basic bills such as a breathalyzer for my car cause I messed up years prior and also insurance and child support.

Living homeless brought other expenses such as gas and showers and daily food.

Which made it difficult to save money for a home. After the Milwaukee Bucks won the championship.

I was riding a motorized scooter downtown at 20 mph and hit a pothole and injured my shoulder stage 3 shoulder separation that brought a screeching halt to everything. From that injury, I was forced to swallow my pride and seek help from my family who I was attempting not to seek help from cause I was so prideful.

Moving to Texas to heal my shoulder while recovering, I began recording music. One song a week for 25 weeks, once my shoulder was healed I went back into the workforce with a new love for music.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Fake friends became an issue, those that I confided in soon turned their backs on me.

When I had a home they were always around eating my food asking me to order pizza and I would order it if they needed booze I hook them up with alcohol if they needed weed I blaze up with them. When I lost my home, they all scattered they were nowhere to be found I was alone.

It hurt to come to the realization after all the attempts I made to reach out to them and getting left on reading or seeing they were not reaching back to me. It took time to realize that they were snakes and only cared when I had something to give them.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Before labeling myself an artist, I was a forklift driver I specialized in that. I made a profession to be smooth with it.

When I started making music, I compared being smooth with it to the same as my job if I can make my bosses comfortable and happy with what I do I might be able to make another human relate to the happiness that comes from being positive.

What makes you happy?
I have a 16-year-old and an 8-month-old both boys they make me happy.

I just recently found out about my eighth-month-old son and I’m excited to meet him soon. My 16-year-old son, I love him so much yet it’s been a battle to be with him I’ve taken his mom to court four times it’s been a lot of drama.

Towards that drama, I released a song titled I wish directed only for my son it was released in 2020 but I wrote that song in 2009. Overall, my family makes me smile when they are happy.
