Community Highlights: Meet Jakub Kosiba

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jakub Kosiba.

Jakub, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Jakub Kosiba. I am a bilingual Polish-born immigrant from Krakow. My father served 2 years in the Polish Army and I am married to a Navy Veteran.

My family left the country when Eastern Europe was controlled by the Soviet Union. I have lived in San Antonio, Texas for most of my life. I studied hard and graduated from Texas A&M San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies.

I started my career first as a cashier for Little Caesars. Soon after I graduated college, I became a dedicated and innovative communicator with a wealth of experience as a reading teacher, middle school interventionist, algebra teacher, site coordinator, basketball head coach, and athletic director. Currently the Chief Executive Officer of Polska GD, reading teacher, and an appointed member of the building & structure committee for the City of Kirby.

Former Vice-President and Director of Workforce Development of A&E Consulting, I have extensive experience working with persons from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures. I am a proven communicator and problem solver, and have success working with local government, adults, and students, effectively communicating and problem-solving with excellent results.

My parents came overseas with only 50$ and both became successful here in the states from hard work. That’s what I told myself that I could do the same if I put in the work which I did and now currently a teacher for IDEA Public Schools.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have always been challenges to getting to where I am at today. Anytime I thought to myself that my hard work would pay it wouldn’t be early in my career. At one point, I was looking for a teaching job around San Antonio. It was midway through the year and I believe I applied to about 50 positions.

I received numerous calls for interviews. Every time I went into an interview I was a mess. Not in the way you’d expect. I was ready to go, professional, and always on time. Every time I would get great feedback on my interviews. However, I never got a call in return or I was told we picked a different candidate.

I always felt I talked too quickly or too much during my interviews. I always felt my anxiety go up. Many times I am a to myself type of person and interact less when working. I would do my job and do it well without interacting much.

As you know, we’re big fans of Polska GD. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Not only am I a teacher but I worked with a business partner for years. We worked on political campaigns together. He went on the open up a social media/video recording firm. He had many successful clients such as Sumo Japanese Steakhouse and Law Firms such as Diaz Jakob, LLC.

He hired me to become his Digital Director for his firm where I maintained all social media accounts for our 20-plus clients and pushed out ads, media posts, videos, and other branding to push advertising. Due to my heavy work schedule, I had to step away from the firm. Later that year, I would create content for myself branding my own campaign for political office.

I had much support and love the graphics that I created. I then decided that I should open and create my own small digital media company so in 2021 I did that. I opened up Polska Graphic Design. I was able to quickly finds clients such as Extreme Outdoor Cleaning & Texas Handyman Services.

I offered excellent pricing for the digital work I do for my clients. I am very quick in editing and creating amazing graphics for advertising. Super proud of the work I do we offer graphic designing, logos, digital ads, and social media campaigns.
