Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Loredo.
Hi Sarah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I come from a large family. Early on, it was evident that our household was different from my peers for many reasons. My parents modeled strong faith, exceptional work ethic and personal responsibility. That foundation has shaped so much of who I am today. Early in my career, I always had a desire for more. I was always looking for ways to stand out in the workplace or move up. It wasn’t long before I realized I needed to build something for myself.. My father is a carpenter by trade and built custom homes. We watched him struggle at times but it was those times that taught us the greatest lessons. Going from an employee to an entrepreneur has many challenges but also many rewards. The benefits far outweigh the risks and I am so glad I took that leap.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting your own business is never easy. Regardless of the business you are in, there are always challenges. Some are more difficult than others. However, those challenges are what shape our character and slowly mold us into who we are today. One of my toughest moments was when I first stepped out on my own. I was building an insurance agency and was quite a success right from the start. I started to hire employees and build teams to help handle the workload and growing demand for my services. One of my employees stole half of my business and that crushed me momentarily. I quickly decided fighting in court was not what I wanted to do and learned some valuable lessons. Since then I have become more cautious and built in better protections for myself and my business.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have 15 years of experience in the insurance industry. I have worked in property and casualty for many of those years. So much of where you end up comes from doing something and either really enjoying it or realizing it is not something you want to do. Over those 15 years, I have found that sweet spot and have settled into protecting small businesses. The reason I specialize in commercial insurance is because I like dealing with like-minded individuals. Running a business is all consuming. It is your livelihood and oftentimes your passion. If I can help protect that I feel good about the work I am doing. Most of my clients have become great friends and I just love hearing their stories. I have built an agency by word or mouth referrals and that is something I am proud of.
