Today we’d like to introduce you to Jehu Ponce.
Hi Jehu, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Our story starts prior to 2006 when a “weekend hobby” erupted amongst several friends. What had begun as solely a pastime, soon began attracting small events. A few years passed when finally in 2006 I converted my pastime into an official business. This is where the real narrative begins as I entered the learning stages, soon to discover whether I would be fit to survive as a business or not. Slowly I realized it wasn’t going to be just about knowing how to make your crowd dance, but it would also entail concepts such as customer interaction and vast organization skills. Throughout the years I learned from both good and bad experiences, molding my company to be what it is today. To this day our business has expanded tremendously, functioning as a corporation and estimated to service more than 200 special events in the year 2022.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a DJ, many of the skills came naturally. As a business owner, there were many obstacles that arose such as learning how to properly deal and communicate with customers. This was by far the most important skill I had to master in order to allow my business to progress the way it did. Secondly, I started my business at a time when carrying a cellphone was a luxury. Today, we live in a world where mastering the social network game is a necessity, so adapting to the changing times throughout the years has been a struggle. As a DJ this is especially important because we must cater to both old and young crowds across the city and surrounding regions.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a mobile DJ company which services events such as weddings and quinceañeras. Aside from DJ services, we also specialize in entertainment and special effect add-ons to further enhance an event. What distinguishes us from other mobile DJ companies is the professional manner in which we conduct our events from beginning to end. Not only do we become our client’s DJ, but we serve as their mentor as they plan their events months ahead. This by far is the biggest factor that sets us apart from other companies.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
That I am a Disney fanatic! Along with my wife and two young daughters, we are crazy for Mickey and friends. Moreover, when we take vacations to Disney World, I am mesmerized by the sound and lighting productions they display throughout the parks and can only imagine integrating them to our events.
