Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am Kiontai Lawson, also known as “TheMaskMusician”, a highly regarded music artist and songwriter. Music has always been my passion, so I began my career in 2014.
My music is diverse and encompasses different genres. Throughout the years, my influences have molded my music into the artist I strive to become.
A couple of my singles led to an increase in a passionate fan base and monthly listeners on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and other music streaming platforms.
My art conveys the deep longing for the soul, the first flashes of romance, heartbreak, loss, devotion, and the deepest regrets that we harbor in our hearts. Words do not escape me when it comes to conveying emotions.
Since then, I have founded Lawson Music Publishing (LMP) and TheMaskMusician LLC to keep personal and professional operations separate. In due time, I hope to surpass the artists I admired and reach the pinnacle of the music industry.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The moment you tell yourself you want to be a recording artist, rapper, musician, etc, it’s like you’re stepping into a whole new world. There are so many paths you can take in this field, and some people never get to the final destination.
Though the road hasn’t been smooth, it has been extremely rewarding nonetheless. I learned that you have to have an understanding of the music business in order to succeed.
Art must be created, but it must also be combined with business acumen. While I’ve done everything on my own over the years, I’ve realized that it’s important to surround yourself with a team so you can focus on things you are more passionate about.

As well as being referred to as “TheMaskMusician”, I seamlessly fuse R&B, Rap, Funk, and Pop music. My up-tempo songs contain catchy melodies that can instantly soothe and uplift you. Plus, my singing emotionally resonates and can instill eclectic feelings among listeners.
Last November, I released my first album, “Love Crisis,” collaborating with well-acclaimed producers like Robin Wesley and Def Starz. My music is groovy and delivers a rhythmic feel that can make your body move.
The music I create is unique, but it shows romanticism in a captivating way. In my opinion, I plunge people into love songs that can leave love ballad lovers euphoric. This type of music is emotional, confessional, and raw. The lyrics tend to portray love-filled moments in the stories I tell, and they are full of stories and experiences people can relate to.
What’s next?
As of now, I am working on my next project, which I hope to release this summer or early fall. I am committed to putting out more music for my fans to enjoy and growing my fanbase even further. As part of my brand growth and venture activities, I want to explore other industries. To make my mark in pop culture history, I am willing to do things that have never been attempted before.
