Hi Sabrina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I have been a nurse for 10 years with a background in Trauma and surgical orthopedics. I am currently in my last semester at Texas A&M Health Science Center to obtain my Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner. Nursing has always been a passion of mine but I felt like my spark was missing, that drive I once had was not being fueled. I began my new journey in aesthetic medicine over a year ago, and I fell in love with the art of utilizing medicine and my creative side to bring confidence to both women and men. As many in the healthcare field may know, tapping into aesthetic medicine isn’t easy but with persistence, drive, and mentorship I am so proud and honored to say I am part of the Injection Room Team. I am lucky to say every day I am surrounded by beautiful, positive, and goal-oriented individuals. When I go to work I am on cloud 9 just knowing what once was a dream of mine is now my reality. My passion for aesthetic medicine continues to grow throughout my journey and I cant wait to see what the future holds.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been far from a “smooth road” for me. I juggled working full-time nights (on mandatory overtime) in a level one trauma center during covid, interning part-time as an aesthetic injector, completing my grad program with clinical hours, and being a full-time mommy to my son. But when you have a goal in mind there are no excuses! Not everyone is going to see or understand your passion but once you understand that only your passion is meant for you to “understand” then those negative statements or remarks don’t phase you. On the hard days, just remember your dream was placed in your heart for a reason.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an Aesthetic Registered Nurse at The Injection Room. The Injection Room is San Antonio’s #1 voted Med Spa in San Antonio. I specialize in aesthetic medicine including dermal fillers, neurotoxins, and skincare. I provide aesthetic treatments to both men and women including procedures such as lip augmentations, cheek contouring, neurotoxins, microneedling, and chemical peels to assist with the prevention and treatment of fine lines and wrinkles. My goal for each one of my patients is to provide customized, safe, and natural results while providing a memorable experience.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I feel risk-taking is a must if you want to grow in all aspects of your life. For me changing my specialty as a nurse was a big risk. I was content and comfortable working as a federal employee. I had full benefits with a decent salary but I was not happy in my career. I made a huge jump and it has been one of the most rewarding decisions I have ever made. I am doing what brings me happiness and get to call it my career. It is always scary to leave our comfort zones but unless you are willing to take that risk you will always wonder “what if?”
