Rising Stars: Meet Karla Ramirez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karla Ramirez.

Hi Karla, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a stay home Mom but also a photographer, before the pandemic my daughter and I used to assist to different classes, storytime at the Library, we used to have many activities together, she was 22 months, and our economic situation was little complicated, so I thought What I’m going to do all day with my daughter at home I start using her diaper box some paint that my cousin give me and some stickers, by the way, I’m not a teacher, and I never consider a creative person.

I was in Instagram, Pinterest looking for more and more ideas to work with her at home, Every time that I can go to the grocery store I was really happy because I can take some boxes home.

I realize that I want her to know and understand the concept of numbers, colors, etc., so we start doing one topic by week. and that’s how everything start, two days before she was 2 years old I lost my father by Covid, it was so hard for me, keep working with her but it wasn’t her fault, and this time it will never coming back, so a keep myself together and making for her a beautiful childhood.

In this journey, I have learned and known from many beautiful Moms. and I’m honored that some small business had chosen me to work with them if I can help from where I am is awesome.

But learning it’s not only with activities, at home out there is a beautiful world waiting to be discover by the eyes of my daughter so we start sharing our adventures too. and we had received invitations to great places only for sharing it’s wonderful. We don’t use any curriculum we are learning based on her interest.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Actually, it has been like a therapy for me, like I told you before, I lost my father but two years before when I was pregnant I lost my mother too. They were so important in my life. I love them so much. Some days are really good others not much. Been a stay home mom it’s not easy and sometimes it’s hard, but must of the time it’s really hard to keep all together. but when I see her face enjoying her activities everything is worthy. But at the same time, I am very grateful with god and my husband for having that privilege to take care of her.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I choose my IG handle Kar Just a Mom because I’m a stronger believer that all moms can do this with their kids, you need to be intentional and enjoy every moment with them, I didn’t consider myself like a creative person, but being a mom give me superpowers, haha, I’m always looking the best for her, how to raise her better, and I know all mamas want that, and I think my greatest fear is face myself, and is something that I keep working every day. but if I’m ok she will be ok.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Certainly, I do. Covid -19 hit me with everything like a lot of people out there, I can’t understand this disease but took my whole world. Time here is shorter than we think, we need to live right now right here, the best way we think is better for us.
