Hi Jonetta, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always had a desire to help women in anyway possible. I was dealt the best handle in life, but through my experiences in childhood, sisterhood, motherhood, and adulthood have shaped me to be the woman I am today. I truly gave my life to Jesus at 25, a few years afterwards I became a licensed and ordained minister. That led me to want to work more closely with women on a more intimate level. I can empathize with the single teenage mother, the woman who was promiscuous, the woman who was looking for love in everyone except Jesus. I had purposed in my heart that I would become the kind woman I wish I would have had while navigating through those different spaces in my life. From coaching women and preaching FOR HER BY HER clothing brand was birthed. Women from all over the world have been inspired and empowered by our brand. We have grown over 15k followers on IG in a short 6 months. The clothing brand focuses on empowering women through faith and fashion.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Things don’t just go wrong, they start wrong. I have had many challenges because I did not always make the wisest decisions and I didn’t necessary have the finances or resources to help work my vision. I saw myself become anxious and I was trying to do what only God could do. Being a woman is hard and we’re not always taken seriously when it comes to business, but being a black woman is 10x worse. I had banks turn me down and give ridiculous quotes for interest rates for a business loan simply because I am black.
But the one thing I love about God is that when He gives you a vision for something, He will always provide the provision.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about FOR HER BY HER?
My business offers faith and business coaching to small business owners and Christian women who have hit a plateau in life and need some assistance navigating through their challenges. As a faith coach, I help women unpack the toxic cycles and patterns in their life and build systems and habits that will help them become the best version of themselves. As a business coach, I assist small business owners with building their business which includes: branding and marketing, knowing their target audience, legally operating their business. and social media marketing.
I am so proud of my brand because I have been able to build it organically with using any ambassadors or influencers. (No shade to those who do). Without a business degree, God has equipped me with the resources and tools to help those who are just starting their journeys as entrepreneurs and Christian women.
I consider my brand to be different because my message, content, and services are geared towards the unsung woman. You know the woman who got pregnant as a teenager, the woman who suffers from low self-esteem, the woman who has had abortions, the woman who has been rejected by everyone, including people in the church.
FOR HER BY HER is known for our authentic practices in reaching women. We believe in sisterhood and I take pride in building a safe community for women.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
With the exponential growth of the clothing brand, we will begin a warehouse producing mass products for women all over the world. I also see myself traveling more to preach and teach workshops to help women that are hurting and suffering in silence. I would love to host yearly retreats where my online community can all come together as a collective and network and build closer relationships.
