Hidden Gems: Meet Alycia Crow of Alycia Crow Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alycia Crow.

Hi Alycia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It all started back in 2012 when I started dating my boyfriend (now husband). His mom was a hobbyist photographer, and she would always take our pictures all the time. She eventually let me use her camera to take some photos of the family. I just loved the feeling of getting my photograph taken and taking pictures. My senior year in high school, I started taking photography classes. My passion grew and grew. Fast forward to 2017, I got my first DSLR camera. I would photograph families, my dogs, everything and anything.

In 2018, my husband and I moved to Hawaii due to him being in the military, which calls for tons of moving. I got a new camera, a more expensive, professional camera. I learned everything I know today by teaching myself the ins and outs—lots of research and videos I watched. I started my business when I got practice under my belt and registered as a legal business. I started taking on families, couples, maternity, everything. Over the next few years, I opened my eyes and learned that I had a passion for intimacy. A passion for love that couples share. So I became a couples, weddings, and elopements photographer strictly. Gaining so much experience over the years I learned to know what I truly love to capture. I hired a business coach in 2020 and she even boosted my confidence more with taking on my business to the next level. With being a military wife, and always having to move I know that I can always have my business to take with me and to travel anywhere around the world. It makes it so much more amazing, and on top of that, it’s my dream job and my number one passion. Meeting new couples in different states and gaining clients who become friends has just been the best experience I could have asked for.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh yes, lots of struggles and bumps along the way. With being a military wife and moving around on the time, the one downside is having to remarket, and gain newer clients in new locations all the time. That makes me have very slow seasons but once I take off, it’s amazing!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business focuses on ALL couples, engagements, weddings, and elopements. I give my clients a non-judgmental space to always be themselves to make them feel 100% comfortable around me and in front of my lens. I’ve had many; many clients always tell me how I make them feel comfortable and how they feel like they’ve known me for years! Like I am their long-lost friend. Hearing that means I know I am doing my job and giving them the best experience I can give. I always say my special talent IS making you feel comfortable around me. I am proud that I truly can be myself around my clients, and on all social media platforms. That attracts my ideal couples who love me for me, and what I can offer them. That also gives them the feeling that they can truly be their authentic self around me too. I gift my couples with a complimentary engagement session or boudoir session when they book me for my ALL-IN wedding package, and I will go over and beyond for whatever you need. I am your number one hype girl through it all! The time during your session with me, to your whole day on your wedding day.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
