Exploring Life & Business with Sarah Douglas of Full of Grace Marketing, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Douglas.

Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It’s been a journey of lots of ups and downs! In 2013 I was unhappy at my full-time job and started helping my uncle and aunt with social media for their businesses. That’s when I decided to start Full of Grace Marketing without knowing if it would turn into anything full time or not, I just had a calling I needed to do it. My relationship with Jesus Christ is everything to me and I knew I wanted to honor him in my business, that’s why I named my business Full of Grace Marketing. I always knew I wanted to start a business one day, but it wasn’t clear until social media became prominent in businesses that I found what I love to do, help businesses grow and connect with their audience online. A few months later I quit my full-time job to pursue this dream. It felt right and I knew good things were ahead but it took a lot of hard work to gain new clients and raise my pricing, along with everything else about running a business! After about 6 months I did have to add on a part-time job because I wasn’t making enough money, but the job was complimentary to my business and was remote, which gave me all the time during the day to build up my business. I’ve now been in business 8 years and I’m still growing as a business owner. The pandemic forced all my clients to go remote and increase the demand for social media marketing. 2020 was the best year I ever had, and 2021 was even better. I now have 2 internal team members and 6 contractors I work with on a regular bases. We are a marketing agency that specialized in social media marketing, website design, and logo design. Our clients are all over the US and all I can say, is God is good. He’s provided for me every step of the way, even during the hard times.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road. The number one struggle you’re going to hear as a business owner is 100+ no’s or “not now” and it will either hurt you personally or keep you motivated. You have to be strong and not take things personally in business. Every time I’ve received a no in business, it’s been for a good reason. There are also endless opportunities for you to find the right target audience for you and the growth of the business. Another struggle was figuring out how much to charge for services and constantly changing it, knowing my worth and expertise are worth the cost. I’ve realized the more you push yourself to grow, the more challenges you’ll have that you’ll have to overcome, but after each one there is a victory that is sweet and it keeps pushing you to go even further.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

What do you like and dislike about the city?
San Antonio is a big small town. I’m originally from El Paso, Texas and have also lived in Dallas. I love Texas as you can tell and the thing I like best about San Antonio is how down to earth the people are in San Antonio. They are open to meeting you even if you might be their competitor because they understand having a great “network” in San Antonio pays off in the long run. It’s a family-oriented city and has the best food from different backgrounds. I love the festivals and food the best plus driving the beautiful hill country area of town. What I like least? Maybe the traffic that is getting a little crazy since everyone is moving here! But I guess every Texas city is expanding because Texas is the best place to live.
