Hi Gabriella, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi my name is Gabriella, but I usually go by Gabbi. I am 25 years old, and I am living my dream life.
It all started when I was a recent college graduate looking for a job during a global pandemic. I had such a hard time finding a job and I needed to figure out my next step.
I thought about the things I loved and what makes me happy. So many things came to mind but staying at home with my dog is definitely on the top of my list. I thought to myself, “Why not start a dog boutique!” I noticed moms that would match with their babies and I consider my dog my baby so I thought why not!
I made sure to do my research and took my time before becoming operational. We launched in July of 2021 and ever since then we have grown each month. We started with handmade dog bandanas, dog toys, and t-shirts. We have grown since into more boutique clothing for women and developing a variety of bandanas in different styles.
We love attending local markets and engaging with our doggy community. I love nothing more than to see people with their little furry companions in our bandanas. I hope to keep growing and eventually open a storefront in San Antonio!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Since we are a new business we have been fortunate not to hit too many bumps on the way. With that being said I think there are always things we can improve on with our businesses. Making sure we have the best customer service is my top priority.
I think the hardest part about becoming a business owner is the behind-the-scenes aspect. Such as forming an LLC, making a website, and the taxes!
As you know, we’re big fans of Pawfection Boutique. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a mommy/doggy style boutique! If your furry friend is your baby then this is the place to shop. You can order them bandanas, toys and a little something for yourself. All while matching! I make handmade collar insert bandanas that can be personalized with your pet’s name!
We try to keep up with the latest trends to keep you and your fur baby in style. I love being a part of every step in Pawfection. From picking the fabric, design the t-shirts, sewing, and order all the toys and clothing items myself!
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I was lucky enough to have worked for a website designer that taught me all about Shopify! That is where my website is based. I highly suggest hiring someone if you are unfamiliar! I used Bliss Business Solutions! I also recommended joining local Facebook or Instagram pages, the amount of support I have received is so amazing. I love connecting with other business owners and seeing how different our businesses and operations are.
Find those people that will always have your back because you will be faced with hardships and difficult times. You will need those people in the back cheering you on!
