Today we’d like to introduce you to Chuck Vans.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I spent 15 years in corporate radio, a little over three years ago, I left to start my own radio show.
The rock radio scene was dead and there was so much good new music and local music that wasn’t getting played anywhere in town. My show has been completely DIY (the show was done completely from my house).
I make no money from doing the show and do it for the love of music.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not always. I was starting at square one when it came to getting interviews with bands and working with record labels. But had a few take a chance on me and it has grown from there.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I host a weekly online music radio show. I’m known for playing real new music and real local music from SA and around Texas. What sets me apart is I play genres that traditional radio won’t touch as well as showcase the great local and regional music from Texas.
What makes you happy?
Playing new bands and artists. It’s so fulfilling as a host to play bands and artists that people haven’t heard of and get those artists new fans.
