Mandy Mills is the founder and CEO of Perky Tataz. On her wedding day in 2011, Mandy wore a strapless bra with her gown and spent most of her wedding day tugging at her dress from discomfort.
After spending the most meaningful day of her life fighting with her lingerie, she realized she was one of many women that struggle with finding a bra that allows her the option of wearing strapless clothing. Determined to come up with a solution, Mandy bought herself a sewing machine and began to develop a plan.
For the next 3 years, she spent her time buying and ripping apart bras to build her own prototype. She shared the bras she constructed with her family and friends who provided her feedback along the way. With no experience in the garment industry and without any real direction, Mandy put her years of sales training and cold calling to use. She started contacting manufacturers and garment consultants all over the U.S.
After months of calls and research, she flew all over the country to meet with manufacturers and discuss her project. Mandy left her initial meetings feeling discouraged, but she was committed to the project and decided to explore other avenues. After months of research and hard work, Mandy found a garment consultant in Baltimore, Maryland who helped her realize her dreams, and Perky Tataz was born.
Mandy Mills lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her daughter. She is a true “mompreneur,” building Perky Tataz while managing the daily responsibilities of her home and family. Mandy is not only dedicated to her family but she is passionately committed to the health, happiness, and comfort of other women and plans to expand the Perky Tataz brand to meet the lingerie needs of women everywhere.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I ran into manufacturing issues, freight delivery setbacks, material backorders, and website development delays. I’m sure there’s more I could think of.
