Life & Work with Wendy Bolerjack of San Antonio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Bolerjack.

Hi Wendy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I love beads! My friend had received beads that belonged to her mother. She asked me to design a necklace for her with those beads. That’s where it all began, Your Queen Bead was born! I started designing jewelry and then it turned into jewelry for your silverware. My friends and family were loving the serving pieces and one thing led to another and their friends loved them too. I had some really great store opportunities and started selling at art shows. People love them as gifts for themselves and their friends.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In all business, there are obstacles. I have run into supply issues, of course. Serving pieces were discontinued and I needed new suppliers. Beads are always abundant but way easier to find. Marketing is a huge part of my business and for me, the most difficult. Things always work out though and everything falls back into place.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I make beaded serving pieces. My work is wire wrapping. I use a very high quality serving piece and wrap glass and genuine stone beads on them. They will last a life time and will be past down from generation to generation. My unique style is fun, modern and a whimsy design. I have been designing and making these servers for many years and I love that my Your Queen Bead art keeps going with people loving them, my customers get what I do and it warms my heart that they continue to support me.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I am a self taught artist. I came up with this on my own. My family has been so supportive of me and I am so thankful for them. So many of my customers have now become my friends and I couldn’t continue Your Queen Bead art with out all of them.
