Meet Andrew Flores of San Antonio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Flores.

Hi Andrew , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The noise of the local scene was always there. . . screaming guitars, raw energy, and talented heavy rock bands pouring everything onto small stages. But looking around, it was clear that talent alone wasn’t enough. Bands were grinding in a vacuum, great local makers and vendors had nowhere consistent to sell, and the passion of the grassroots community was constantly getting lost in the shuffle.

It started with a simple realization: if you want something done with real power and precision, you have to build it yourself. Coming from a background where you diagnose a problem, grab the right tools, and fix it until it runs smoothly (mechanic) , the gap in the local culture was obvious. Independent artists didn’t just need a stage for a night; they needed momentum, solid branding, high-impact promotion, and a dedicated team in their corner.

That was the spark for The Hive.

The Hive wasn’t launched to be just another event or a one-off show—it was built from the ground up as a full-throttle promotions, branding, and publicity agency. The goal was to take the raw, uncompromising energy of heavy rock and alternative arts and give it the professional engine it deserved. From crafting sharp visual identities and promotional campaigns to setting up structured booking networks, The Hive became the backbone designed to elevate local talent and give them maximum reach.

Once that engine was roaring, it needed a flagship floor to show what it could really do—and that’s how Xposed Underground was born. It became the ultimate physical space for The Hive’s vision: a packed venue where heavy bands, custom craft vendors, and dedicated fans all share the same spotlight.

Today, the mission is about honing that craft every single day, keeping the execution tight, and ensuring every show fires on all cylinders. Looking to the future, the blueprint remains unchanged: scale the reach, take the showcase to bigger stages, and keep building an unstoppable ecosystem for independent heavy music and culture.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth? Not even close. Anything worth building from the ground up is going to come with dented metal and burnt oil along the way. When you set out to build a real agency like The Hive and establish a brand like Xposed Underground, you’re trying to build serious structure in a naturally chaotic industry.

The first real hurdle was credibility. When you step up with a new framework, nobody hands you trust. Getting venues to open their doors, convincing heavy bands to buy into a new promotional structure, and proving to independent craft vendors that their weekend time was safe with us meant grinding until the results spoke for themselves.

Then there’s the daily operational reality. Merging raw heavy rock and alternative culture with tight business logistics is constant work. You’re balancing production budgets, press pushes, event timelines, and venue staging while making sure the local makers on the floor are actually making money. On top of that, you have to cut through the noise of a scene full of big talkers who disappear when it’s time to load gear or push promotional campaigns.

In the early days, every single flyer, deposit, and late-night logistical headache was powered by pure sweat equity. Long hours and relentless hustle. But every bump on that road just made the infrastructure stronger. It forced us to sharpen our operations, tighten the brand, and ensure that when The Hive puts its stamp on an Xposed Underground show, it’s built on a rock-solid foundation of blood, sweat, and tears.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve been a hands-on builder my entire life—whether that’s wrenching on clients cars, finding and working on my vocal tone and screams, or designing bold visual identities from scratch.

What I Do & What I Specialize In

At my core, I build, diagnose, and elevate. Professionally, I bring over 25 years of experience as an ASE Certified Mechanic, running a mobile automotive repair business where precision, problem-solving, and reliability are everything.

In the creative and music world, I bring that same blue-collar work ethic and diagnostic approach. I’ve been a graphic artist since 2005, specializing in promotional design, visual branding, and digital media production. On the stage, I spent nearly two decades front and center in the heavy rock and metal scene as a Vocalist and band member—performing with Innervoid (2005–2008), Infinity Kill (2010–2012), and Evol Assassins (2012–2019).

That deep history on stage and behind the wrench led directly to founding The Hive, a dedicated promotions, branding, and publicity agency designed to give independent creators and heavy bands real infrastructure. Through The Hive, I power Xposed Underground, our flagship live showcase series where heavy rock, local artisans, and alternative craft vendors share the floor. My wife and business partner, Sandy, plays a huge role in this space with her own small business, Duchess in Lace—a boutique specializing in Victorian-Gothic keepsakes and curiosities.

What Sets Me Apart

What sets me apart is that I’m not an outsider trying to market a scene I don’t understand; I’ve lived it from every angle. I know what it’s like to haul gear in the heat, load a stage, design the flyer, push the promo, and turn the wrenches on the haul vehicle to get there. I combine 25 years of technical mechanical precision, 20+ years of graphic design, and nearly two decades of stage experience into a single, unstoppable drive.

What I’m most thankful for.

I’m extremely thankful for the life God has blessed me with, the family I have created, and the strength in knowing that God’s got my back. I’m thankful for building a real platform that uplifts the entire community. Seeing heavy rock bands get high-level promotion and watching independent vendors—like Duchess in Lace and dozens of other local makers—succeed on the floor at an Xposed Underground showcase makes every hour of sweat equity completely worth it.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are a lot of entry points depending on what you need, but everything comes down to real work and mutual support.

For heavy rock and metal bands, you can work directly with The HiveSATX (instagram.com/the_hive_satx) to get your visuals and publicity locked in—everything from high-impact flyer design and logos to full promotional campaigns. If you’re ready to hit the stage, reach out about getting on an Xposed Underground bill where you get a real crowd, solid media capture, and dedicated backing.

For local artisans and alternative makers, we keep the floor alive at every show. You can reserve a vendor table at Xposed Underground and showcase your work right alongside other independent creators, including my wife’s shop, Duchess in Lace. We’re all about giving local craft businesses a direct line to people who actually support alternative art.

If you own a venue, run a business, or want to sponsor a show, we collaborate on full event execution, staging, and cross-promotions to bring high-energy crowds through the doors. And off the stage, if you need reliable automotive work, my mobile mechanic operation brings 25 years of ASE-certified experience straight to your vehicle.

The simplest way to support is just to show up. Come out to an Xposed Underground showcase, buy merch from the bands, shop the vendor tables, and share the flyers. You can connect with us directly on social media or hit up our booking and press contacts to get involved.
