Today we’d like to introduce you to Amaris Garcia.
Hi Amaris, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started with Glamaris Cakes back in October of 2020. I was a newly vegan, 19 years old, and entering the world of cake-decorating + baking. I’ve always had a passion for art, so translating that into my baking was a must for me. I self-taught myself how to bake, decorate, frost, tier, and create edible works of art! I would regularly attend pop-ups back then, selling my cupcakes & other baked goods. We quickly gained traction, and it was history from there! Flash forward to now, where we’ve been a part of so many weddings, catering orders, and of course countless custom-cakes & cupcake orders. I can remember just about every single cake I’ve ever done-so we love when folks tell us we did their cake or were a part of their wedding. Many of whom are not even vegan, but who have needed allergy-friendly baked goods-or enjoyed our style of cakes & “glamourous” touch of edible art. And to this day, we still have a lot of regulars and “OG’s” who have stuck around since the beginning. It’s truly an honor to be a part of something that special! We love our vegan community here in SA.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting the business was the biggest hurdle, because I was 19 and nobody knew who I was. But I’m not someone who easily gives up, and I showed up until my hard work started to pay off. It sounds cheesy, but the hustle definitely was worth it. I remember when I first started, I’d be doing 1-3 markets per week. Some that weren’t even busy, but I just wanted people to see what Glamaris Cakes was all about. I eventually made connections with local vegan businesses, and had product placed in their stores-and that was a huge attribute to the growth! I’ll always be grateful for those who saw my hard work, and gave me those opportunities. Once my name got out there, we became a staple amongst the vegan community. When you make things with love, intention, and from scratch-people can really tell a difference. For me, I wanted to showcase something that looked beautiful but also tasted amazing. And to have fun with the flavors, and bring different themes to pop-ups/holiday menus, etc!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

We want it to be a special experience for our clients, whether they’re celebrating a birthday, milestone, or a wedding. Our cakes & cupcakes are all vegan, so they are free from all animal products.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I used to pretend I was on a Food Network cooking show in my kitchen as a kid. Cooking in my kitchen and talking to an invisible camera, as if I was Rachel Ray. Probably makes a lot of sense why I do what I do now! I’ve always been a creative, and art has been a passion of mine-and I think the culinary world is a beautiful place to let that shine.
