Check Out Bekah Blagg’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bekah Blagg.

Hi Bekah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It’s been quite the journey! I’ve always had a love for design, but I didn’t pursue it professionally until about five years ago. After staying home with my kids for a few years, I knew I wanted to get back to work, but I also knew I didn’t want to return to the corporate world. That’s when I began my career in real estate—and, along the way, discovered just how much I loved preparing homes for the market and staging them.

But it wasn’t just staging that I fell in love with. I more so loved working with homes that were actually lived in by real families, filled with the furniture, decor, and personality they had collected over time. To me, homes like that are like puzzles. Where does the color need to go? How can I make sense of this unique space? What can I change (without completely updating everything) to make it appeal to the right buyer?

Cracking that marketing code and figuring out how to make a lived-in home photograph, show, and ultimately sell for top dollar is still one of my favorite parts of what I do.

Redesigning spaces naturally expanded into helping homeowners make design selections for remodels, and it has since become a huge part of my business. Today, I’m basically the local “paint and stain guru,” helping homeowners make decisions ranging from the finishes in a brand-new custom home to the perfect color for a kid’s bedroom.

Looking back, I’m so thankful that what started as a desire to find a career that fit my life eventually turned into something I truly love. I’m incredibly grateful for every client who has trusted me and allowed me to be part of their projects over the years. It’s been such a fun journey, and I’m excited to see where it continues to take me!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! But honestly, I think if you’re running a business and never experiencing any struggles, you’re probably playing it a little too safe.

A lot of the struggles I’ve faced have actually been self-inflicted, if I’m being honest! I’ve always put a tremendous amount of pressure on myself to give 100% to every opportunity and every person who comes my way. It took me a long time to realize that I simply can’t be everything to everyone—and that saying yes to everything doesn’t necessarily mean I’m doing my best work.

Learning to set boundaries, be selective with the opportunities I take on, and recognize my own limits has been one of the hardest lessons for me. There’s been plenty of late nights, long weekends, stress, and a lot of learning the hard way that went into figuring all of that out but I made it out alive, ha! But truthfully, it’s still something I work on today. I’m someone who genuinely cares about doing things well and giving my clients my very best, so learning that sometimes the best thing I can do for my business (and for my clients) is to say “no”, has been a huge part of my growth.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My specialty is working with real-life, lived-in spaces. Whether that means staging a home to make it more marketable to buyers or transforming it into a personalized space my client has always dreamed of, there’s something about working with real-life homes that really lights a fire in me.

If you were to ask around though, I’m probably best known as the “paint and stain girl.” Can’t figure out which white to choose? Call Bekah. Stuck between five different stain colors? Call Bekah. Have a vision but no idea how to bring it to life? Call Bekah! And I absolutely love that part of my business because there’s nothing better than taking someone from stressed and overwhelmed to confident and excited.

Ultimately though, I think what sets me apart is that I’m not interested in just working with people that have endless budgets and a clean slate. I love working with what you have, within whatever parameters you’re working with—and again, I love a good puzzle! Tell me you want a completely different look but need to keep the existing tile? Say no more. Need to work around furniture you already own, a quirky floor plan, or a color you can’t change? Even better. I love figuring out how to make all of those existing pieces work together to create something that feels completely new.

How do you think about happiness?
I feel like what I’m supposed to do here is loop this back into my design work but honestly, I’d be lying – ha! Really there’s no peace and happiness like the kind that comes from being a follower of Jesus, so for me that’s the real root of it all. By looking to Him for my happiness, I’m actually able to see beyond the little things that life throws my way and realize that it’s so much bigger than all of that. So, 10/10 stars for putting all your faith, trust and happiness in Jesus – highly recommend!
