Today we’d like to introduce you to Jae Young.
Hi Jae , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a professional wrestler who has been training for 4 years wrestling for 3, winner of the Hybrid Payday Briefcase, Former United 210 Tag Team Champion, current United Breakaway Brewing Champion. I started my training in 2022 at the hybrid school of wrestling in San Antonio Texas and currently coaching for beginners there today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely was not an easy thing to get into. Every year has been very different for me but I have learned so much from traveling to wrestling my peers and others from outside of Texas. I’ve been on TV for WWE as a security guard and New Japan pro wrestling as a young boy guiding the wrestlers to the ring before their matches. Being in the wrestling business is definitely not easy as I faced a lot of financial and mental struggles on the way at one point hitting rock bottom in both aspects.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I consider what I do as an art form for the audience to be entertained by. I base my style heavy on people I look up to on TV with my own style. I take pride in keeping the audience engaged and feeling the energy I bring to the ring. I believe that my grunge alt style and heavy hitting sets me apart from a lot of people I share the ring with. I’m proud that I can call myself a professional wrestler and keep up with a lot of the up and coming talent coming out of Texas
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Talking and making friends. I was a very shy person starting out but once I opened up and started talking to other either about their matches or and critiques they can offer it really helps. Finding a good school to train at is a good way to build a solid support system
