Hi Jazmen-Bleu, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Jazmen Bleu: Founder of Acting Studios 101
My name is Jazmen Bleu, and I am a proud San Antonio native. I first discovered my love for acting as a very shy child. My parents enrolled me in acting classes to help me come out of my shell, and through those classes, I found confidence, creativity, and a true passion for performing.
While attending Reagan High School, I was accepted into the school’s audition-based production program. That experience confirmed that acting was not simply something I enjoyed—it was what I wanted to pursue professionally. When I shared that dream with my parents, they supported me completely, even though our family did not come from an arts background.
My father has always been one of my greatest inspirations. He built a successful business from the ground up, and watching his journey taught me that you can create something meaningful through hard work, determination, and faith in your vision. His example gave me the courage to pursue my own path.
I auditioned through the National Unified Auditions and was accepted into several of the top acting programs in the country. I ultimately chose California Institute of the Arts, also known as CalArts, because I wanted rigorous conservatory training in a market where I could grow as both an artist and a professional. CalArts is often referred to as the “Juilliard of the West” and has produced notable alumni such as Don Cheadle and Alison Brie.
During my time at CalArts, I earned my BFA in Acting and had the opportunity to study with incredible mentors who shaped my approach to character development, collaboration, discipline, and truthful performance.
When I returned to San Antonio, I realized there were limited opportunities for actors who wanted serious, professional-level training for television, film, and commercial work. I wanted to create the kind of space I had needed growing up—a place where actors could learn, take risks, make mistakes, build confidence, and develop organic performances without ego or judgment.
That vision became Acting Studios 101.
For more than five years, I have had the privilege of training over 100 actors through the studio. Our clients have earned opportunities connected to productions such as The Bear, Abbott Elementary, and Lawmen: Bass Reeves, as well as feature films distributed through Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Netflix, and other major platforms.
Our clients have also secured representation with respected agencies and management companies, including Strand Entertainment, DDO Artists Agency, Daniel Hoff Agency, and several notable Texas agencies.
At Acting Studios 101, I offer intensive training designed to help actors grow both creatively and professionally. Students work on television, film, commercial, self-tape, character, and audition technique. We also bring in guest instructors and industry professionals for master classes so actors can expand their skills, strengthen their résumés, and learn directly from working professionals.
Another important part of our program is providing access to industry showcases. Agents and managers are invited to watch our actors perform, giving students the opportunity to build relationships, receive callbacks, secure representation, and move forward in the industry.
My goal has always been bigger than teaching lines or preparing auditions. I want every actor who walks through our doors to feel supported, challenged, and empowered to become a stronger artist and a more confident individual. I am incredibly proud of the community we have built and of the many actors who continue to grow, book work, and pursue their dreams through Acting Studios 101.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have definitely been challenges along the way. I think when anyone is building something meaningful, there can be pressure to make everything perfect and to see immediate proof of what they are creating. One of the best pieces of advice my father gave me was to enjoy the journey, continue planting seeds, and trust that, with time and care, they will grow.
That is exactly what has happened with Acting Studios 101. I have planted so many seeds, nurtured them, poured into them, and watched them grow. One of the most meaningful parts of this work has been helping actors find confidence when they may not yet see their own potential.
That is deeply personal to me because a theatre teacher in high school once saw something in me before I fully saw it in myself. That belief changed the trajectory of my life. I now have the opportunity to offer that same encouragement to other actors and remind them that their voices, stories, and talents matter.
There have been moments of hardship and seasons when it was difficult to see the full impact of what I was building. However, that is also part of the beauty of the journey. I have learned that when your work comes from an honest and genuine place, beautiful things can happen. The right people will recognize it, connect with it, and find you.

What sets Acting Studios 101 apart is the combination of high-level training, personal mentorship, and meaningful access to working industry professionals.
I was fortunate to study at California Institute of the Arts, where I trained with exceptionally accomplished mentors and developed a well-rounded foundation in acting, movement, voice, body awareness, character work, and on-camera performance. That training continues to shape the way I teach today. My goal is not simply to help actors memorize lines, but to help them understand themselves as artists, strengthen their instrument, make bold choices, and create honest, organic performances.
At the same time, I understand that strong training is only one part of building a lasting career. Actors also need guidance, professional materials, industry knowledge, and opportunities to be seen. Through Acting Studios 101, students are able to train and grow while also connecting with agents, managers, casting directors, filmmakers, and other respected professionals. Those relationships can lead to callbacks, representation, bookings, and career-changing opportunities.
Our intensives also include specialized master classes led by working professionals. Past and upcoming guests have included a San Antonio Spurs dancer, a stage combat instructor, a commercial actress who recently worked on a campaign with David Beckham, an established Texas film director, and casting directors connected to major television productions. These experiences allow our actors to expand their résumés, learn new skills, understand different areas of the business, and build genuine professional connections.
We also provide training in television, film, commercials, audition technique, self-tapes, character development, script analysis, voice, movement, improvisation, and industry preparation. Depending on the program, actors may also participate in professional showcases where agents and managers can watch their work.
What I am most proud of is the community we have built. Acting Studios 101 is a place where actors can take risks, make mistakes, work without ego, and grow at their own pace while still being held to a professional standard. We work with students at different stages of their journeys, but each person is encouraged to take their craft seriously and believe that a sustainable career is possible.
I want readers to know that we are not simply offering acting classes. We are helping actors develop their craft, confidence, professional relationships, and long-term direction. Our purpose is to create an environment where talented people can be nurtured, challenged, connected, and prepared to build lifelong careers in the entertainment industry.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is helping people understand how powerful their voices are and how much their presence matters.
We live in such a fast-paced world, especially with social media, that genuine connection and being fully present can sometimes feel lost. When actors walk into my studio, I want them to have a space where they can release whatever they may be carrying from life outside the room and focus on themselves, their scene partners, and the truth of the moment.
Acting can be incredibly empowering. Sometimes life experiences or other people can make someone feel as though their voice has been taken away or that their story is not important. I want my students to rediscover that voice and recognize that their individuality is valuable. Every person has a unique perspective, a story worth telling, and something meaningful to contribute.
My greatest accomplishment is not only seeing an actor book a role or secure representation. It is hearing someone say, “Thank you for giving me a place to play, find myself, and build confidence.” Watching someone become more grounded, expressive, and secure in who they are is one of the most rewarding parts of being a coach.
For me, acting training is about more than performance. It is about connection, self-discovery, courage, and giving people permission to take up space. Helping actors recognize their worth and trust their own voices is what matters most to me
