Today we’d like to introduce you to Regina Morales.
Hi Regina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Grew up in Geronimo, Texas with two artist uncles. Vicente and Pedro Loera. One was a painter the other an illustrator. Both very talented. I wouldn’t be where I’m at without them. Also special shout out to my mom, the legend known as Susie. She’s the hardest worker I know and has always supported me and helped me believe in myself. As I got older I started making flyers and album art for friends bands. Went to art school for a short time. Worked at a small town newspaper designing ads, became a mom, worked at screen print shops for the last decade.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not a smooth road being a mom. I work full time and do freelance artwork on the side to make extra money. Financial stress still doesn’t hold me back from enjoying life. I laugh a lot, cherish every moment as a mother, love my son very much and proud of the young man he is today. Love you Seth!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My 9 to 5 is at a screen print shop called NDCTEES. I’m an artist there and spend my day designing shirts, banners, stickers as well as running the social media and making reels of the production there. Outside of that I still create whatever projects get thrown my way. Flyers, album art, shirt designs, logos, branding. Also have been trying to have more of a social media presence by making reels showing my process or tips to share that I’ve learned along the way. I’m proud of how far I’ve come. Although I still have a journey ahead and much to learn as I continue to grow as an artist I can look back and give myself a little pat on the back and say “oh ya I did that” lol I designed a bus stop that’s gonna outlive me and I’m also a published artist so that’s cool too. Also did some logos of places like The Lonesome Rose, The Dogfather, Extra Fine, El Luchador Bar and Delete That! Podcast
I really don’t know what sets me apart from the others. “Comparison is the thief of joy” I just do what I like to do and if one person likes it, cool. If they don’t that’s cool too lol life’s short. Create something! Express yourself! Do whatever!
What matters most to you? Why?
Forgiveness. Accepting we’re human and make mistakes. Holding grudges is not a life to live. Be cool with one another. Be kind. You never know what someone is going through.
