Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathaniel Flores.
Hi Nathaniel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
San Antonio nü-metal band Skabatha was formed in the winter of 2023 starting out as a side project, with founding members Nathaniel (pink hat) on vocals, Cristian (sleeveless shirt) on guitar, and Marcus (white shirt) on drums. After multiple jam sessions into the new year the band took a lengthy hiatus that lasted until spring of 2024.As the band reunited creatively the ball began to roll with what would later become the driving force for their debut EP entitled,” FREAKUENCY”.
Combining elements of nü-metal, shoe gaze, metalcore, post hardcore, hip-hop and accompanying electronic components. Slowly as the vision came together, the band wouldn’t debut their jarring sound to the local music scene until the fall of the following year. Debuting in diy fashion, Friday night November 22nd, 2024 held at the infamous UTSA MOB backyard Skabatha unleashed its anticipated sound, following after the debut the band entered the studio with producer Nate G recording in Austin, Texas.
With the sound being more and more fleshed out there came a new addition to the lineup; enter Chris (black hat) on rhythm guitar. Throughout 2025 Skabatha would go on to play shows on a consistent basis through cities such as San Antonio, Austin, El Paso, and Corpus Christi. Tracking for the band’s six song EP concluded a few weeks shy of Halloween. Fast Forward to the Summer of 2026, Skabatha is now set to release their debut single “TiRADE” on July 13th, 2026, accompanied by the full release of” FREAKUENCY” on July 20th, 2026.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
From vocalist Nathaniel: For me I had a hard time recording. I would get sick at the most inconvenient times and that dramatically had an effect on the release of this project I’m talking months of delay. Fun little easter egg on the EP, track 4 “LOVEMETiLLDEATH” there is a sick take that was kept due to the healthier recording of my voice not sounding pissed off enough after the 26th take.

A self-produced and destructive moment for the band’s songwriting showed a different side of the band’s dedication to turning in a song within one night for a compilation record. Unfortunately, this led to burning the midnight oil on this one to the point of exhaustion. Unique problems for a unique song. This led to members staying more than 24 hours, throwing up while tracking and a car accident…
all for the love of creating innovating music.

Chris Likes: I want to highlight that I love older cars for the art and beauty behind their designs but how that beauty is being tarnished by car companies as their focus has shifted from making cars that are uniquely styled and personalized to making something that just sells with lack of true passion and love behind the development process
and with using a car as our album cover, I’m trying to highlight the beauty of what once was
Dislikes: Manufacturing. More so the focus of producing something repetitive and uninspired for the sole purpose of making money. Instead, I want to see people taking risks and passionately create what drives them, even if it goes against the standard because they believe in it
i feel like that ties into the record a lot
we know what everybody else doing and what people want to hear but we want to hear something different more niche and unique that may or may not be accepted because we believe it’s good.
