Conversations with Nadia Garza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadia Garza.

Hi Nadia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always wanted the freedom to build a life I truly enjoyed and loved. I never wanted to spend my life working just to get by I wanted to love what I do because we spend so much of our lives working. Art has always been something I was passionate about, so becoming a tattoo artist felt like the perfect way to combine creativity with a career that gives me purpose.
Tattooing wasn’t just an idea that suddenly appeared in my head, I found it through years of exploring different creative paths. Before tattooing, I dove into countless business ideas, buying the supplies, making plans, and giving each one a genuine shot. I tried reselling clothes, wood carving, painting, making lip gloss, and doing nails. While I enjoyed every one of those experiences, none of them gave me the lasting excitement or fulfillment I was searching for. Then I discovered tattooing, and everything clicked. It challenged me creatively, allowed me to create meaningful art that people carry with them for life, and gave me the opportunity to build a career around something I genuinely love. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to constantly improving my craft, growing as an artist, and now working toward opening my own tattoo studio.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For the most part, it has felt like a smooth road, but I think that’s because of the mindset I’ve chosen to have going into it. I’ve always viewed every challenge as an opportunity to learn or experience rather than a reason to quit but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been struggles. I’ve definitely dealt with self-doubt, wanting to be perfect right away, comparison, and taking leaps of faith that felt scary at the time. I’ve realized that growth comes from being willing to stay uncomfortable. Every challenge and decision has helped shape me into a better artist.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a tattoo artist, I don’t like to limit myself to one style. I enjoy being versatile and challenging myself with different types of projects because every tattoo teaches me something new and a different way to show my creativity. I hope I am known for the experience I provide. I want every client to feel heard, comfortable, and excited throughout the entire process. For me, it’s never just about the money it’s about creating something meaningful and making sure people leave feeling confident and happy with their experience. I think what sets me apart is my willingness to keep evolving. I’m always looking for ways to improve, whether that’s becoming a better artist, creating a better client experience, or finding new ways to grow my business.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
A quality that’s been the biggest contributor to my success, it would be my mindset. I’ve learned to see challenges as opportunities instead of obstacles, and I don’t let fear stop me from trying something new. Another quality that is important is consistency. Motivation comes and goes, but to choose to stay consistent and show up for myself everyday, put in the work, and trust the process is what has created my real progress.
