Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Louviere.
Hi Eric, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up not having much, in South Texas so I always wanted to be someone special, or do something meaningful. I wanted more than a cubicle-day-job in my life and I felt I was on house money without much to lose.
I started taking business risks in my mid 20’s with start-up business ideas. I dreamed of owning my own business and read books, went to seminars, took home study courses and anything I could find to give me wisdom for owning my own businesses.
In my mid-20’s I decided to start my own advertising & marketing company in College Station, Texas. I had an idea and ran with it. I only had about 2k to my name when I started that business idea. I remember asking my mom if I could live with her temporarily if I became homeless from failing at this business idea I was pursuing.
I hired college kids on full commission to help me sell advertising packages to the local businesses. None of us knew what we were doing, but out of sheer determination, we made it work and we made it work big, and quickly.
We did over 100k that summer in the 1990’s… (which was like millions to me) and I never looked back.
I would pull all-nighters doing graphic art, writing sales copy, licking envelopes for direct mail campaigns, printing, bookkeeping, cleaning the office, you name it. I worked very hard.
Half the time I was stressed beyond my mind but other times I was proud, excited, ambitious, driven and ready to take on the world.
We then expanded to Conroe and The Woodlands area, opened an office there, hired a ton of sales people there, and off to the races we went again. Everything was fine until my mom got sick and passed away. This totally rocked my world. She was my best friend and my biggest supporter and I was so lost and depressed when she left this world.
It really sent me in a spiral downward and I had serious troubles dealing with it. My business started going downhill and I was just flat depressed. Looking back, I needed some professional help then but did not get any. Just muscled through it.
I ended up selling some of my ownership stock and then went and got a day job in downtown Houston for an advertising company who was about 36 million per year in revenue. I learned a lot from them, but I also realized I wanted to own my own business again.
At that time, I started trying to earn money online by selling ebooks and courses. I would go to the bookstore on my lunch break and look through books that “solved problems” people had. For example, one book was on “tenants rights” where renters would get rejected on getting their security deposit back from landlords who made excuses.
I wrote my own ebook on it, gave advice on what to do, and sold it online for like $5-bucks a pop.
However, I sold like 50+ per day online using online advertising.
Soon, I started making more online than my 90k per year day job, so I ended up quitting that job to make money online full time on my own. That was 2006. That was one of the best years of my life!
I quit that job, moved from Houston to Lake Travis, got married, got pregnant with our first child, a son. We lived in a beautiful house, had plenty of money, went on lavish vacations, slept till noon, went to the movies during the middle of the day when everyone else was working, went on our boat on the lake daily, and did not even look at the prices on anything.
In 2007, we hit a million dollars in a single day from a launch we did (gross revenue not net).
From there, I got into coaching, consulting and running my own advertising and marketing agency.
I sold businesses, started new ones, sold those, and so on.
Now, it’s been over 25 years as an entrepreneur, marketer, advertiser, agency owner and coach.
As with all businesses, there’s always ups and downs, so my Faith has helped me through it all and I give all the glory to God. He took me from being a broken kid from a broken family, into changing thousands of people’s lives through my coaching, services, marketing systems, etc.
I don’t forget where I came from. Many Blessings!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not smooth. In this life you will have troubles, so just go with it. It did not matter if I made 100k in a month, or 20k in a month, there were always challenges and resistance.
I remember when the merchant account I was using froze all my money for no reason at all. They were doing this to a lot of people in my industry online. Basically, the merchant accounts wanted to take our money and hold it as a reserve to mitigate their losses or risk.
In other words, say we had a bunch of refunds and charge backs, the merchant account could go negative (like a bank account going negative) and then we stick it to the merchant accounts (banks). So, they decided to freeze our money and hold it as a 90 day rolling reserve or something like that.
This about put me out of business because that money was not all mine. I had to pay affiliates, my payroll, bills, the offices, etc etc etc.
It was a nightmare.
A few times, someone was stealing from me (internally) and that set me back each time. Always keep a close eye on those who work for you, and those who are paying clients too, or partners. I certainly forgave them all, and nobody is perfect, but there is always going to be troubles.
Only 7% of America owns their own business… for a reason! It’s hard at times, Heaven other times!
As you know, we’re big fans of ClientAmplify.com. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I have a lot of online ventures and businesses. One I enjoy the most is simply coaching people on how to earn six figures online (or even seven figures). It’s fun, it’s rewarding for me and them, and I just flat love it.
I help coaches, experts, consultants, professionals, business owners, etc to get leads online, get clients online and make money online. For 20 years, I’ve helped people make more sales online using my marketing systems.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I always wanted to be in the film industry. I wanted to write screenplays, direct movies and even act in movies. I never fully pursued any of it but I wrote screenplays and such on my own time just for fun. At one point, in my 20’s, I was an inch away from moving to California to go for it, but decided to move to Colorado instead because I loved the mountains. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if I picked Hollywood instead, but I’m happy God nudged me to to move to Colorado, then back to Texas.
