Today we’d like to introduce you to Ann Selene.
Hi Ann, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, my roots were shaped by a family history of movement. Four generations ago, my ancestors migrated from Bessarabia, establishing a lineage of travelers. Growing up, my father channeled his passion for history, rockhounding, and antiquing into producing some of the West Coast’s largest vintage paper and postcard shows.
My own path took an intense and unexpected turn when I became a married mother at just twenty years old. Surviving that challenging twelve-year marriage was one of the hardest chapters of my life, but escaping it became my catalyst. The moment I claimed my independence, the trajectory of my life completely transformed, and yet in my own way, I would follow in my family’s footsteps.
This would become a high-velocity rebirth: I followed my passions in the realm of the otherworldly and launched my own podcast and online digital broadcasting station, authored books, and even had the honor of appearing on national television.
Driven by a newfound sense of sovereignty, I packed up my entire life to move across the country, not once but twice. Today, I am a proud author of two books and a public speaker at different conferences and events on the East Coast.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road, I would say, has been a bumpy one. If I am being completely honest, the greatest obstacle I’ve had to face has been myself. When you are rebuilding a life from scratch, fear is a constant companion. It is easy to let the walls of your own mind become a cage, and learning to trust your own voice when the world feels unpredictable is a battle I have to fight every single day.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work lies at the crossroads of the paranormal and psychology. Having been a lifelong experiencer of the strange, my journey naturally evolved from survival into research. My first book offers a deep dive into these formative encounters—ranging from witnessing shadow entities and mastering Reiki energy healing, to capturing a photograph of an unidentifiable, seemingly alien being, and encountering a possible Sasquatch in the woods of Ohio.
All of these profound events deeply shaped my worldview, fueling a parallel fascination with the human mind. To bridge the gap between the anomalous and the analytical, I decided to take my work to the next level. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in psychology, bringing empirical academic rigor to the mysteries of the unseen.
I am known originally for being the hostess of my podcast called The Caravan, Library of Lore, then subsequently. My radio station, KPNL Radio. And now for my two published books, Haunted Inheritance & Signals from the Elephant cage, as well as my public speaking on the aforementioned topics.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
It may sound cliché, but never give up on your passions. I believe in all of us, there is a spark for something specific. We can hear it calling, and we must be brave and follow that calling. It can be confusing, and one can feel lost when one first begins, but this is where research comes in really handy.
When I say research, I mean look at the stories of others, read, don’t just trust what you find online, but find books, old books, new books, and interview people. Ask questions!
Remain open-minded, consider further education. I am almost 40 and starting my university journey now. It’s never too late.
