Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosie Galvez.
Hi Rosie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am an illustrator and creator from Santiago, Chile. I have loved drawing for as long as I can remember, and over the years I developed a passion for creating my own characters and stories rather than only drawing existing ones.
What started as simple character designs gradually grew into a larger creative project called Fanacute, a universe filled with original characters, each with their own personalities, friendships, and adventures. Through social media, I began sharing my artwork, comics, and creative process while continuing to develop the world and its stories.
Along the way, I learned not only about illustration, but also about storytelling, character development, branding, and building a creative project from the ground up. It has been a long journey of experimentation, learning, and persistence.
Today, I continue to expand Fanacute while also developing Fanatopia, a larger story-driven project that explores the world, characters, and deeper themes behind the universe I have been creating for years. My goal is to create stories and characters that bring joy, imagination, and meaningful experiences to people around the world.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges has been building an original creative project from the ground up. Creating characters and stories is one thing, but sharing them with an audience and helping them reach people is a completely different challenge.
Like many independent artists, I have experienced periods of slow growth on social media, moments of self-doubt, and the difficulty of balancing creativity with the practical side of running a creative project. There have been times when I spent many hours creating artwork and stories without seeing immediate results.
Another challenge has been learning multiple skills beyond illustration, including storytelling, character development, branding, marketing, and product design. Building a world like Fanacute requires much more than drawing; it requires patience and a willingness to keep learning.
Despite those challenges, I believe every obstacle has helped me grow as both an artist and a creator. The experience has taught me persistence, adaptability, and the importance of continuing to create even when progress feels slow. Those lessons continue to shape the work I do today and the future development of Fanatopia.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an illustrator, character designer, and storyteller. I specialize in creating original characters and building imaginative worlds through art and storytelling.
I am best known for Fanacute, a creative project featuring original characters with unique personalities, relationships, and adventures. What began as character illustrations gradually evolved into a larger universe that combines visual art, storytelling, comics, and creative world-building.
What I am most proud of is creating something entirely my own from the ground up. Every character, story, and concept has been developed through years of creativity, learning, and dedication. Seeing these ideas grow into a connected universe has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey.
I believe what sets me apart is my focus on developing original intellectual property rather than creating only individual illustrations. I enjoy building characters that feel alive, with their own identities, friendships, and stories. I am also currently expanding this universe through Fanatopia, a larger narrative project that explores deeper themes while maintaining the charm, imagination, and sense of wonder that inspired the project from the beginning.
My goal is to create memorable characters and stories that can connect with people of all ages and continue growing across different creative formats in the future.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think the creative industry will continue growing over the next 5 to 10 years. More people are sharing their work online and finding audiences from all around the world, which creates new opportunities for artists and creators.
I also think there will be more interest in original ideas, characters, and stories. People enjoy discovering unique projects that feel personal and different.
Another change I hope to see is more opportunities for independent artists. With social media and digital platforms, creators have more ways to share their work directly with audiences, and I believe companies will continue recognizing the value of working with independent creatives and supporting original projects.
