Today we’d like to introduce you to Bill McKibbin.
Bill, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started in the car business in New Orleans after following my wife there who was still on active duty in the Navy. She was pregnant with our son and was an Air Traffic Controller stationed there. I began in sales eventually moving into finance. Eventually I moved away from the retail side of the business. I worked for a short time in lead generation and then lending for little over a decade. Eventually finding my way back to the retail side of the business. We are fortunate to have found such a wonderful home in Boerne and an amazing organization to be part of. Our Dealer Principle, Mark Smith, has been an amazing mentor and inspiration. I feel fortunate to have found someone who truly wants to take care of their team members and customers.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are always struggles along the way but you always come out the other side stronger. One of my favorites quotes is from Thomas Edison: “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” BE PERSISTENT in all that you do.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I’ll take effort over talent every time. Do the little things that you don’t want to do but you know it takes to be successful. There are many more talented failures than there are hard working ones. There is one saying that has always stuck with me and I put in the front of every notebook I write it. Its from the famous French Chemist Louie Pasteur (who discovered pasteurization): “Chance favors the prepared mind.” People who seem lucky are often times just more prepared when the opportunity to be successful presents itself.
