Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Longoria.
Jenna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up, I faced challenges like weight gain, irregular periods, PMS, digestive issues, and mood swings, unaware they were linked to PMOS. Doctors only recommended birth control, but the side effects made me miserable. I reached a point where I refused to accept that my only option was to “live with” these conditions.
So, I went back to school to study functional medicine, nutrition, and women’s health. I ran the right labs, changed my diet and lifestyle to support my body and started taking targeted supplements.
I’m happy to report that I’ve been in remission and have lived a mostly symptom-free life for more than a decade. Today, my body is lighter, I ovulate monthly, have pain-free periods, and my mood swings and sugar cravings no longer get the best of me. At 37, I even conceived naturally, which is something doctors told me growing up wouldn’t be possible due to my PMOS.
I knew I had to share this with other women and help them achieve the same results.
I first started small and saw clients in a tiny office in Houston. When COVID lockdowns hit I switched to telemedicine and my business thrived with this model. I utilized the power of social media, online webinars & Facebook ads to expand my audience. Today I still have a telemedicine practice but am opening an office again in New Braunfels to start working in person with locals.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No. I don’t think anything about owning a business is easy. But it’s been extremely rewarding. I get to do what I love and I don’t take that for granted.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a board certified functional nutritionist specializing in women’s hormones.
Through my virtual private practice, I help women reclaim their hormones during premenopause, postpartum and perimenopause with a multidisciplinary approach combining functional medicine, nutrition, and diagnostic lab testing in my 1:1 and group programs, and my online course The Period Solution.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
When things get tough just remember why you are doing this in the first place. When frustration takes over it always helps to pause, take a breath, and visualize your mission. Who is it you’re helping? Who have you helped in the past? Connecting with your “why” is important because often times we get caught up with all of the logistics of running a business that we lose touch with the essence of our business.
