Meet Chris Simek of Chris Simek Custom Homes LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Simek.

Hi Chris , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started out in 1991 hanging siding on new homes for piece work pay. After a few years of learning the trade I bought equipment and started my own company. Then I taught myself how to frame homes from a paperback book I purchased from the lumber yard. In 2004 I moved back to the San Antonio area and worked for a company as their trim, door and cabinet installer, as well as running my own jobs on the side. I have built numerous homes and have done extensive remodeling over the years.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The construction industry is very fluid and dependent on the economy. The housing crash of 2008 and 2009 was so bad that I had to move to North Dakota and drive a truck in the oil field to support my family.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I specialize in custom home building and remodeling. I have many years of having to figure out how to make a difficult build or remodel work and give the customer what they want. I am a naturally gifted artist and can envision what home owners are dreaming about. I am proficient at not only home building and remodeling but also install a lot of cabinets and tile. I have learned everything hands on and I am not a builder who sits in an office.

Any big plans?
I plan on continuing building and remodeling homes in the future. I would like to build a business for my son to take over when I have to retire.
