Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackson Kibby.
Jackson, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started in musical theatre, doing plays and musicals from the time I was 13-17. I fell in love with storytelling through that, it really opened my eyes. Once COVID hit, all the local theatres closed and I was eager to make art, so I bought a camera and made my first short film. It was definitely rough, but over the course of 6 years I’ve made 7 short films and a full feature film called “INERTIA”. Doing theatre helped me understand how to tell a story and direct actors.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve been blessed to know so many people in the industry while getting started. However since I started at a young age, it was difficult to get the help I needed to make these projects. But over time my connections grew and I’ve met so many wonderful people who have helped me with these projects. So it’s definitely smoothed the road out for me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a filmmaker! I’ve directed and shot 6 short films, dozens of music videos . And recently made a feature film called “INERTIA” (it’s definitely the project I’m most proud of. What sets me apart is my work ethic, if I want something, I’m gonna go and get it.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I’ve taken many risks. In fact, I dropped out of film school to make my debut feature film, it was a huge risk, but it certainly paid off.
