Today we’d like to introduce you to Norman Lloyd.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Visionaries of Living in Color is a collaborative effort between Visionary Family Counseling Services, owned by Tammy Fisher and Norman Lloyd. Visionary Family Counseling was established in 2005 in the Buda/Kyle area, initially serving as a family and adult counseling agency dedicated to meeting the needs of a rapidly growing community.
Norman Lloyd, an active-duty veteran, brought a deep passion for supporting military personnel, their families, and first responders. Through their shared vision and professional partnership, Tammy and Norman recognized the need for expanded mental health services in nearby communities.
Together, they developed a desire to establish a counseling practice in the New Braunfels area—one focused on addressing the unique and evolving needs of the local population.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like any new business in the New Braunfels area, Visionaries of Living in Color has experienced its share of challenges. Although we have over 20 years of experience as Visionary Family Counseling, we are relatively new to the New Braunfels community. Building meaningful relationships within a community takes time, and we understand the importance of earning trust through consistent care and presence.
We remain committed to establishing a compassionate and supportive counseling practice in New Braunfels—one that responds to the unique needs of individuals, families, and the broader community.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a combat veteran of two wars, I have seen firsthand the impact that PTSD and chronic stress can have on individuals and their families. Those experiences shaped my desire to become a counselor who truly understands these challenges—not just professionally, but personally.
I specialize in working with military members, veterans, first responders, and others facing high levels of stress and trauma. My approach focuses on developing individualized care plans that foster meaningful, lasting change.
What I am most proud of is helping clients open up about what’s really going on in their lives—the barriers that keep them from experiencing the full richness of their possibilities—and supporting them as they move toward healing and growth.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
It’s important for business to reach out to the population they want to work with. That may mean going up to business and knocking on doors. Joining meet up (industry) groups that support their business model and goals.
