Today we’d like to introduce you to Aracely Salazar.
Hi Aracely, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My love for hair started as far back as I can remember. As a little girl, I was coloring my Barbies’ hair with Kool-Aid and giving them bangs. My mom noticed how much I enjoyed it and started teaching me how to style and braid, which really sparked my passion.
As life progressed, so did my interest in all things beauty. I was drawn to the detail and creativity. I always knew the beauty industry was where I belonged. Even though I was encouraged to take a more traditional college path, I felt strongly about pursuing something that allowed me to make people feel confident and beautiful.
I got my start as a receptionist at the salon where I was a client. That experience was invaluable. I learned everything from scheduling and retail to sanitation and the behind-the-scenes of running a salon. While working there, I put myself through cosmetology school, and that’s when I truly fell in love with the craft.
For a short time, I also worked in a nail salon. There, I gained hands on experience and expanded my skill set. After completing school, I was invited to join a new salon in Gruene, Texas, which became the foundation of my career.
Now, 20 years later, I’m a bridal hairstylist and the owner of my own salon suite. It’s incredibly fulfilling to build a career out of something I’ve loved since childhood and to be a part of such special moments in my clients’ lives.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest challenges was taking the risk to leave the salon and go out on my own. I was walking away from a steady salary to build something that was fully mine and that was scary. But I’ve always believed that if it’s not scary, I’m not growing.
As I was coming up on my 1 year anniversary celebration of having opened Hair by Aracely… Covid happened. Before we knew it we were mandated a mandatory shutdown. It was tuff but I stayed positive. I took full advantage of that time to update my salon booking site, work on salon social media, bridal contracts, branding, etc. After a few weeks, with much precaution, we were able to open our doors again. I’m so appreciative of every single one of my clients for showing so much love, care, generosity and patience during that time. I definitely pushed through and learned to believe in myself during moments of doubt.
Over time, I’ve learned how to set boundaries, balance the business side, and handle the pressure of wanting every client to leave happy.
Those challenges shaped me into who I am today. Not just as a stylist, but as a person… and I’m really grateful for that.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Hair by Aracely?
My salon offers a range of services including hair color, haircuts, extensions, conditioning treatments, relaxing scalp treatments and even fun details like hair tinsel and feathers. I also specialize in bridal styling, which is such a special part of what I do. I love being a part of such an important moment in someone’s life.
What really sets me apart are the relationships I build with my clients. I have been through many stages of life with them and each one has their own story that I hold dear to my heart. It’s never just about the hair for me. It’s about creating an experience where they feel comfortable, heard, and confident. I truly take the time to understand their vision and make sure they leave feeling like the best version of themselves.
I’m most proud of the brand I’ve built. It reflects who I am, welcoming, detail-oriented, and passionate about what I do. I’ve created a calm space where my clients feel valued, and that means everything to me.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think the industry is going to become even more personalized and experience driven over the next 5–10 years. Clients aren’t just coming in for a service anymore, they want something tailored to them, from custom color to extensions to the overall experience.
There’s also a big shift toward hair health and low-maintenance beauty. We’re already seeing more lived-in color, natural texture, and styles that grow out beautifully instead of needing constant upkeep.
On the bridal side, everything is becoming more soft, romantic, and personalized. Brides want looks that feel like them. Nothing too heavy or overdone, just elevated and timeless.
I also think connection is going to matter more than ever. With so much online influence and even at home hair trends, clients are choosing stylists they trust and feel comfortable with. Not just for the service, but for the relationship and experience.
Overall, I see the industry continuing to grow, but the stylists who really focus on their craft, their client relationships, and creating a unique experience are the ones who will stand out.
