Meet Shelby Hayward of Comfort, Texas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelby Hayward.

Hi Shelby, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Before we opened the cafe we were doing a lot of catering and private chef events and we just felt like we could offer more. We wanted a place where people could come everyday and enjoy a fresh, scratch made, healthy meal. So we started dreaming up the idea of what a menu would look like. What would we serve? How could we contribute to the community with our food? So here came Shelby’s Dae-ly Cafe

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Initially I’d say our start wasn’t really smooth, our first location just wasn’t a great fit for our business. We had issues with space, parking and just stresses of sharing a space we had really no say in what went on which really affected our daily operations. But it helped us learn and understand what we needed to be successful. Now that we’ve acquired our own space, we have seen such a huge positive shift in business.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We specialize in health conscious meals that you can enjoy but still feel good about eating. Using clean ingredients, scratch made options. Our reputation stands on being able to offer filling, nutrient dense meals that fuel your body and still give you the freedom to enjoy things you love. We make all of our baked goods with a sourdough base and all of our sandwiches on our homemade sourdough bread. I’m the most proud of the growth, I never dreamt that my little business would grow to be what it is today. I truly feel what sets us apart from others is our concept is so unique, we offer a wide variety of foods, drinks, etc that there really isn’t anything just like us out there.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Being raised by parents who both own their own businesses, it’s really all I know. I watched them work so hard my whole life and I think it instilled in me a work ethic that has made it possible for me to be successful because I will always do what it takes to keep my business going!
