Meet Myles Meyer of San Antonio, TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Myles Meyer.

Myles Meyer

Hi Myles, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was 16 when I decided I wanted to be an actor. But it was really after watching John Wick and then re-watching The Matrix that struck a chord with me. I was already taking Theatre classes in High School – but after graduating – I decided to go for it. My family and I moved to San Antonio in March 2020 and I began taking acting classes. I’ve taken numerous classes since then – both in-person and online – with some workshops in between. I’ve landed some small projects, as well as participating as an extra on some big TV productions such as “Walker” and “Fear of The Walking Dead”. I was fortunate enough to be cast in a Christian film, “The First Step”, as well as short animations, various music videos, and a “Call of Duty” and “Solo Leveling” fan film. Also, because of John Wick, I decided to go into jiu-jitsu. I received my blue belt in the summer of 2025 and am currently expanding my training by taking kickboxing.

In the summer of 2024, I thought it would help my acting career if I learned more about the industry from a behind-the-scenes perspective. I enrolled in San Antonio College (SAC) for Radio, Television and Broadcasting to study camera work and camera operation. I met so many amazing, talented people and have much more in-depth knowledge on what it takes to actually put together a script, shot list, and all the components of what it takes to complete a film.

While attending SAC, a friend of mine – who is a Director, asked if I could create the score for his movie, “True Self”. I had so much fun in creating the score and trying to bring the story to life through the music! True Self has since been nominated and received awards at film festivals both in Texas and California.

I also have an immense love for music and have been playing and creating music since I was 9 years old. A classmate at SAC suggested I get a job working at Boeing Center at Tech Port as a stagehand. Having worked at this job, I’ve learned so much more about the music industry and what it takes to put together a live show. I’ve seen a lot of performances and have done a lot of cool set-ups and teardowns. It takes a lot to set up concerts and events – running cables, setting up the stage, and hooking lights onto a truss. I’ve also met a lot of interesting people here who have in-depth knowledge and skills about the music industry and how it works.

One night, while listening to a DJ friend spin at a club, I met another musician who has a band. I told him that I was attending SAC to learn camera operation, and he asked me if I wanted to film his band’s music video. After filming, he said “Hey man, do you want to join?” I said “HECK, YEAH – I would love to!” And lo and behold, I joined “The Pain Junkies”. We’ve been together for over a year now and have played numerous gigs around San Antonio. We won SAC’s “Battle of The Bands Contest” and will be playing at SAC’s Fred Stock Festival in April 2026. Since joining the band, I’ve learned so much more about the music industry from a performer’s standpoint, and the dedication, heart, and responsibility that is needed to create a great show. Being in this band has been nothing but amazing and has brought so much joy to my life.

I feel very fortunate and blessed for all the people I’ve met and the opportunities I’ve been given. I wake up every day grateful and excited about what the future has in store – both in acting and in music!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Regarding the challenges I have faced, the most significant was transitioning from the food industry to the film and entertainment industry. Initially, finding and establishing a professional network was quite difficult, considering I hardly knew anybody at that time. It did take a minute, but everyone has their own path and am so grateful for the people I’ve met along the way. They gave me the support I needed to keep trying and never give up.

Working as a stagehand can also be very challenging, and while some days are more demanding than others, I remain motivated by my passion for the work – knowing this is the field I want to be in. I learn so much every day and feel significantly closer to my goals now than where I was five years ago.

Another ongoing challenge is maintaining a balance between professional and personal responsibilities and creative pursuits. Navigating the requirements to earn a living while also dedicating time to learning more about my craft, performing music, and staying healthy remains top priorities for me. It always a struggle to do what you love and to also pay the bills – but the payoff for me is worth it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am most known as a musician and an actor. The role I am most proud of is “Jude Clarkson” in “The First Step”. I’m very proud of this film because it was the first major role I was ever given needing a lot of emotion. Filming in Beaumont, TX and meeting the cast and crew was so much fun and I’ll never forget it!

From a musician standpoint, the 2 things I’m most proud of is scoring the film “True Self” and playing bass in “The Pain Junkies”. Both of these have been truly life changing, and I’m super grateful to everyone for giving me the opportunity. Music has always meant the world to me, and I don’t know what I would do without it.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m always looking for more projects and collaborations – both big and small. It’s super nice to learn more about the entertainment industries, meet new people and grow your network. My pricing is based on the level of creative work and time that is needed. I understand that some projects don’t always have a budget, but I’m willing to help when and where I can.
