Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Carriker.
Hi Sarah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started doing hair in high school when my best friend was in choir and musicals, she would volunteer me to do hair and makeup so we could hang out every day. Well, unbeknownst to my dad- that lead to me coloring people’s hair with box color in bathrooms and that’s where my love began. I graduated cosmetology school and worked at a couple salons that just weren’t a great fit and then I found my home salon where I was able to hone my skills and really grow as a stylist and a person. I knew I wanted to own my very own salon so I worked towards that and I told anyone who would listen about my goal. Then August of 2025 it became a reality and I opened The Carriker Beauty Edit inside of My Salon Suites
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been easy; being a single mom, working nonstop, and promoting myself is like having three full time jobs. I’m very fortunate to have an amazing support system who has helped me along the way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I don’t specialize in anything, I love so many different services I don’t think I could choose just one. I love vivid fashion colors and I’m starting to be known for gray blending. I’m currently most proud of the work I’ve been doing helping women embrace their gray hair and soften the color grow out process.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I’ve looked to so many different people from salon owners to content creators to my cosmetology school instructors and I took in as much information as I could from everyone around me. My advice would be to just get out there. Everyone started not knowing anything and you deserve to be heard and noticed. Even if it feels dumb just do it!
