Community Highlights: Meet David Aldrete of Bexar Longevity and Aesthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Aldrete.

David Aldrete

Hi David, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey in medicine here in Texas, training as a family medicine physician in San Antonio. Early in my career, I practiced in both primary care and urgent care, where I spent years treating chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and obesity. Over time, I began to notice a pattern—many of these conditions were being managed, but not truly reversed. Patients were getting medications, but not always getting better.

That realization was a turning point for me.

I became deeply interested in prevention and the idea that lifestyle—nutrition, movement, sleep, stress—could fundamentally change a person’s health trajectory. That led me to pursue additional training in lifestyle medicine and obesity medicine, where I began to understand that many of the diseases we see every day are not inevitable—they are largely driven by modifiable factors.

As my perspective shifted, so did my mission.

I wanted to create a space where we weren’t just reacting to disease, but actively working to prevent and reverse it. At the same time, I’ve always believed that how you feel on the inside is reflected on the outside. Health and confidence are deeply connected.

That’s what led to the creation of Bexar Longevity & Aesthetics.

We built this clinic with a simple but powerful philosophy: treat patients from the inside out. We combine medical optimization—like metabolic health, hormone therapy, and longevity-focused care—with aesthetic treatments that help patients look as good as they feel.

Today, I’m focused on helping patients take control of their health, extend their healthspan, and feel confident in their own skin. This isn’t just about adding years to life—it’s about adding life to those years.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most journeys in medicine and entrepreneurship, the path hasn’t been linear.

One of the biggest challenges early on was shifting my mindset. I was trained in a traditional medical model—diagnose, treat, prescribe. Moving into lifestyle and longevity medicine required me to think differently, to focus on root causes rather than just managing symptoms. That transition wasn’t always easy, especially in a system that isn’t always built around prevention.

Another major challenge has been building something from the ground up.

Starting a clinic is not just about practicing medicine—it’s about learning business, marketing, operations, and leadership all at once. There were moments of uncertainty, especially early on, where I had to make decisions without having all the answers. Balancing risk while staying true to my vision was something I had to grow into.

There’s also the challenge of educating patients.

Many people are used to quick fixes—medications, short-term solutions—and helping them understand that true health requires long-term lifestyle changes can take time. It requires trust, consistency, and a lot of communication.

But every challenge has reinforced why I started.

Those obstacles pushed me to become a better physician, a better leader, and more intentional about the kind of care I want to provide. They’ve shaped the foundation of what we’re building today—something that goes beyond traditional medicine and truly helps people transform their health.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Bexar Longevity and Aesthetics?
Bexar Longevity & Aesthetics was built on a simple but powerful idea: true health starts from within and is reflected on the outside. We are a hybrid medical and aesthetic practice that focuses on optimizing both how our patients feel and how they look—bridging the gap between traditional healthcare and modern wellness.

What sets us apart is our foundation in medicine. As a physician-led practice, everything we do is rooted in science and personalized care. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether it’s metabolic health, hormone optimization, weight management, or aesthetic treatments like neurotoxins, microneedling, and advanced skin therapies, every plan is tailored to the individual.

We specialize in helping patients improve their healthspan—not just how long they live, but how well they live. Many of our patients come to us feeling stuck—struggling with weight, low energy, hormonal imbalances, or early signs of chronic disease. Our goal is to identify and address the root causes, not just treat symptoms.

At the same time, we recognize that confidence plays a major role in overall well-being. Our aesthetic services are designed to enhance natural beauty in a way that aligns with our medical philosophy—subtle, effective, and confidence-boosting.

What I’m most proud of is the experience we’ve created. We’ve built a space where patients feel heard, understood, and empowered. It’s not just about treatments—it’s about transformation.

Ultimately, what I want people to know is that we are redefining what healthcare can look like. We’re not just treating illness—we’re helping people take control of their health, improve their quality of life, and become the best version of themselves.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What truly makes me happy is knowing that I’ve made a real, lasting impact in someone’s life.

In medicine, it’s easy to focus on numbers—labs, diagnoses, prescriptions—but what fulfills me most is seeing transformation. When a patient regains their energy, reverses a condition they thought was permanent, or simply starts to feel like themselves again—that’s what drives me.

I also deeply value the relationships I build with my patients. Developing trust over time, being someone they can rely on, and guiding them through their health journey is incredibly meaningful to me. It’s not just about a single visit or treatment—it’s about being part of their long-term progress.

What adds another layer of fulfillment is empowering patients. Helping them understand their bodies, take ownership of their health, and realize that they have more control than they once believed—that shift in mindset is powerful.

And in many ways, what we do goes beyond physical health. When someone feels better internally, it reflects in their confidence, their outlook, and how they show up in their life. Being able to contribute to that kind of transformation—both inside and out—is what makes this work so rewarding for me.
