Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacey Davis.
Hi Lacey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Fifteen and thirteen years ago, when I was having my babies, I didn’t know what a doula was. After my two unmedicated hospital births, I experienced firsthand how overwhelming it can feel to navigate the hospital system with only your spouse—who’s never done this before either. Bringing your baby into the world, no matter how you choose to do it, shouldn’t feel overwhelming. You deserve support that keeps you grounded—someone truly in your corner who works for no one but you.
For over ten years, I’d felt called to support mothers and families as they welcome their newest family member. But in the midst of raising and homeschooling my own kids and simply doing life, I kept telling myself I’d have to wait to pursue that dream. In January 2024, my husband encouraged me to stop waiting—why not now?
I found a local doula mentor and trained under her for twelve months, learning so much along the way. We also have a close-knit doula community here that’s always growing and learning together. I truly feel called to this work—to ensure mothers are heard, supported, and cared for on a day they will remember for the rest of their lives.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’m past the pregnancy stage of life—and so are most of my friends—so I wasn’t naturally surrounded by potential clients. Building from scratch felt intimidating at times. Designing a website, learning SEO, doing consult calls, leading prenatals, and navigating hospitals in a professional role were all brand new to me.
There have also been moments of uncertainty—especially when unexpected situations come up with clients and I want to make sure I’m serving them well. I’ve had to grow quickly and learn to trust both my training and my instincts.
I’m incredibly grateful for my mentors and for my husband, who has supported me every step of the way. Having that encouragement behind the scenes has made all the difference.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a birth doula serving families in the Hill Country and San Antonio area, and I truly feel called to this work. I support women through pregnancy, labor, and early postpartum with steady, hands-on, evidence-based care.
I specialize in physiological birth, VBAC support, and breech positioning using my Spinning Babies training. I also serve mama’s through IVF journeys, rainbow babies, and mothers healing from previous birth trauma. Those mamas often carry a lot into the birth space, and I’m intentional about holding that with care.
I’m known for being grounding and protective of the birth environment. I love helping partners feel confident, I stay steady when things get intense, and I don’t disappear when plans shift.
What I’m most proud of isn’t a “perfect” birth story — it’s when a mom says, “I felt safe. I felt strong. I felt heard.”
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by how a mother feels when she looks back on her birth.
Success isn’t about a specific outcome or location. It’s when a mama feels truly heard and seen. It’s knowing that, no matter how her birth unfolded, she had a voice in it. She understood her options, gave informed consent every step of the way, and never felt like things were simply happening *to* her.
It’s when she feels respected, honored, and supported — whether her baby was born in a hospital, at home, or in a birth center.
That’s the heart of why I do this work. Because when a woman feels safe, valued, and empowered in her birth, it stays with her long after the day is over.
